Some speakers had "one set of speeches for the North and another set of speeches for the metropolis. If Starmer gets rid of the Lords what will he do when he is no longer an MP?
How is he going to do it though?
Even if he gets a big majority and the commons vote to abolish the Lords, does it not then get passed to the Lords for them to vote on?
Turkeys and Christmas springs to mind.....

They can suggest improvements to any replacement, but cannot actually stop anything. If nothing else, the Parliament Act gets invoked to ignore the Lords.
I'd be very surprised if anything came into being inside one parliament though - there's a lot of thought needed to get it right, and not something that can be hijacked easily.
