We fail to gather over £240b a year in taxes. Gather it and spend it all on the above.

In England, yes. But then again they have convinced you lot the Tories are good. These are some of the things we will crack on with. You have shown that you will bend over the desk and ket the Tories tell you how serving their interests are yours too. Last week's election results proved a new low has been reached. 8f Starmer adopted those things he woukd at least have a plan to get behind. He has fuck all, because he is scared to offend the right wing press. A shitebag.

In fairness I don't think the % of people in this country that think the Tories are fine is very high at all. Brexit has skewed a lot of the natural party demographics and Labour don't seem to have the knack of communicating with the electorate very well. The perception of them is very poor.

Joe has a radical plan. Starmer has less than fuck all. He's an echo chamber of Boris. What Starmer lacks is courage in what he believes, his first thought is, how will the media react. It should be, how will the people react. Sturgeon gets hammered by a Indy hating media. 14 years in office and voted in with an overwhelming majority again. Do you know why? She has balls and conviction to say to the media, fuck you. It's good for our people. Until you get an opposition that has courage you will bend each way they dictate and be left looking like a car crash victim tangled up in wreckage of trying to please them and pleasing no one.

But he largely kept his mouth shut during the campaign.
Ties in with a punters previous post that said keep it simple in the campaign and then do big things when you get into power.

One idea: If you are resident in the UK for tax you have to declare all your global income on your tax retrn and how much tax you have paid on it. If you haven't paid tax on it or it's in a country without a reciprocal tax agreement - you pay the tax in the UK.

Do you not think that a media that is owned by a few super rich individuals has an undue influence on society. Look at the amount of lets say ...anti immigration headlines in the Daily Mail. They set the agenda.

I have never heard a current Labour cabinet member say people are racist, there was Gordon Browns idiotic faux pas calling that woman a bigot, a nadir perhaps for the Labour Party.

Its funny aint it, Labour members get called antisemitic and me and PB debated this at length.

What the Tories are doing is using culture as a weapon, it has too become economically during Covid it has gone so far to the left on economic policy it is the only way to stay RW. So we get all this statue nonsense, and rewriting of history. Have you ever met somebody who is anti statue? because I haven't.

Politics is in a strange place, brexit has caused huge upheaval in how people see the UK. This is where the media played a huge part by portraying remain voters as Waitrose shopping metro liberals and also by portraying those waitrose metro liberals as believing everybody who voted leave was a racist bigot. The role they played in brexit was enormous and that is obvious from the amount of headlines generated, the anti EU sentiment etc. now it has been achieved they have seen the opportunity to carry on now brexit voters are portrayed as patriots, remain is unpatriotic. This divide is exacerbated by the use of flags and nationalist symbols.

You can say what you want, but the Tories have played the people like a fiddle, that is how the owners of capital stay being owners of capital and increase their share of capital. Meanwhile everyone gets a flag and says yee ha look at us we are free, but they are not free, they are slaves to capital.

Just to add, Trident will cost something like £100bn or £3bn per year over the project life of 30+ years. Public sector spending stood at £840bn last year and £220bn of that was borrowed. So £3bn doesn't even scratch the surface, the full £100bn doesn't even scratch the surface. It barely even covers the post-pandemic furlough bill.

This is spot on.

I saw a stat yesterday that during the pandemic billionaires wealth has grown 35% whilst use of foodbanks has increased by 33%. Summed up where we are for me.

And at the same time the people of this country are being conned that their Government is doing the best for them. Those 2 guys from Hartlepool in the video on the Conservatives thresd are just the tip of the iceberg, there are millions like them.

It seems that Turkeys can be convinced to vote for Christmas after all.

All in all, it sums up the mindset of the Labour party now, and indeed much of
the media. Since the results came in we've had wall to wall Sturgeon on the Beeb, someone about as popular in England as Nish Kumar, and time taken up on Rayner, who's been sacked from whatever job she had and given a made up one, anything to avoid facing up to the truth.
