Liverpool fans throwing missiles from South Stand Level 3

I have to say I disagree. They kind of tried that, well at least City did.

After the accusations of Hillsborough chants, or rather that always the victim chant is about that (because seemingly anything can be if they decide so), City publicly said they were disappointed at a minority's behaviour and would look into it. They acknowledged it, and took responsibility on the fans' behalf.

All it did is make the other more righteous and both the media and their nutter fans fed off it. And some blues more disappointed and maybe feeling aggrieved.

There might not be anything to acknowledge this time at the City end, but if there was and they did, it would just then feed excuses for the Liverpool behaviour on the night by their nutters, and by some of the media. Likewise, if City issued a condemning statement aimed at Liverpool, or Liverpool acknowledges their own, it could feed resentment among a minority of blues that may be likely to react next time.

They are both trying to calm it down, and stretch it out so it has time to settle. They are also half trusting both fans to look at themselves rather than the others. Which might be their mistake tbf. With Liverpool, almost certainly. But even among blues, as seen with one or two over the top reactions to the statement.

Imo it needs a sharper and more drastic measure, like a temporary pause in away support etc. But that has dangers too of overfeeding it and making it bigger than it currently is, or speeding up where it might slowly be going. Tough one, really. At some point, it has to start fans wanting to de-escalate it.
The actions of the bin dippers on Thursday was entirely predictable and the naivety of the City hierarchy in not anticipating it is a big concern.

Removing 6000 young ,vocal City fans in SS3 and replacing them with 6000 lawless, lethal dippers was asking for trouble which predictably happened.

In military strategy you never concede the high ground !!

The events confirm and reinforce the need for a dedicated high level City end.

Going back to Maine Rd days, City fans were and are sick of having to give our home end away to rival fans. I’m unaware of any other major club who does this, it will always understandably create and increase animosity.

An exclusive City end will prevent many of these issues in the future in addition to (hopefully) consistently improving the atmosphere.

Additionally,in the event of future cup ties opposition fans should be allocated the normal 3 tier side section of seats or SS1. SS2 & 3 should be exclusively for City fans. I can’t see any good reason why this should not be possible and acceptable.

In effect, this will create two City ends, because not everyone in SS will want to relocate to NS but some in SS1 May prefer to move up to SS3 where the acoustics are so much better.

Likewise, some from the ESL singing section may relocate to SS3 in addition to NS2.

One thing is certain away fans must NEVER be allocated SS3 again.

Catching up with this thread and laughing at the coach driver excuse. Forget the discussion about whether or not you have a collection before the end of the journey. How does something that accidentally falls of a third tier ledge end up in the first tier unless it is thrown with some velocity. It has to be a parody account by an Everton fan.

Virtually every casual reader (does the Echo have casual readers, though?), not either associated with City or Liverpool, not interested in football even, would be lead to make that assumption, given the way it's contextualised. See, this disingenous way of spinning things is what I absolutely can't stand.
And it's my objection to the way it's been reported on the BBC.

It’s never an accident.

Well, you see, it was simply perched on the ledge at the front of the third tier. Somebody clumsily jogged it, and it started falling. As it dropped past the second tier, a strong gust of wind from City fans chanting “you're always the victims” diverted it onto the first tier. City fans' fault, see?

If my memory serves me well, I can't think of a single incident with any other club where this has been a problem.

Can I just say, if any City fan was racially abusing a disabled fan, you are also fucking low life scum and are not welcome at our club, so please fuck off and support someone else.
It's pretty difficult to comprehend the mental gymnastics that must have been in play to undertake that particular act...............

The time for City to make a stand was straight after the coach attack. The game shouldn't have been played for a start.

By City basically doing nothing it made it easier for the press/media to ignore it. The piss poor 17k fine was a joke.

This lack of action by City, authorities, plus Merseyside police not nicking anyone, fed the dippers belief that they are untouchable.
Dippers behaviour is getting worse, got of scot free again at the CL final despite lots of videos of fake tickets and them jibbing in.

By going hand in hand with LFC imo is the wrong way, it makes it look like nothing sets of fans are the same. We arent.

City just look how it's being reported by the dippers loving press/media, it's being twisted against City. Wake up and smell the coffee. City fan gets arrested and ejected, not one dipper arrested or ejected. The most serious incident is being played down in favour of the one City fan shouting abuse at a LFC disable fan ( which is wrong and should have action taken ).

But even in our own statium the dippers were treated differently, got away with things, our own fans lives were in danger yet the club gets into bed with LFC. Lfc are the problem.
Our club our safety officers our risk assessment etc all thought it was safe to put the dippers above our fans. Serious questions need to be ask about these people thinking.
It must have been high risk of injury from thrown objects on the risk assessment so who signed it off ?

City should be sending out their own press/media statement calling out dippers behaviour.

I am not a thug ( to old now ! ) but I feel City actions are pushing some City fans beyond their normal sensible behaviour, by City poor actions in dealing with the dippers. Plus the clubs actions in putting fans lives in danger, because lives were in danger. How giving the dippers ss3 got signed of by the club is beyond me and shows a complete lack of respect to its fans

See, my problem with this post, mate, is this: it all sounds sensible, and reasonable. And actually, in purely pragmatic terms, you're right.
But what it amounts to is us, the home club, having to adjust to this particular set of away supporters, because of anticipated trouble from them! You're right of course, but for pity's sake, we've had other sets of supporters up there, and not the most angelic at that (weren't Leeds allocated that whole section when we played them in the cup a few years ago, might be wrong). We only have to do this for Liverpool? Not United, not Chelsea, not Arsenal (carry on with the list).See what I'm saying? Why, up and down the country, do clubs have to make special allowances for these people and their pet two-legged rottweilers?
Just one other point. I sure as hell wouldn't put that lot in the north stand. There are kids in there, and families. And these people (and it's not the whole six thousand, let's have it right, but a sizeable and vicious minority who are always, always on standby to behave like shits) are no respecters of minors, children, cf. the fifteen-year-old girl who copped the missile from above her.
In short, why in God's name does the world have to make allowances for LFC and its fans?

Wasn't debating that, nor do I really disagree. It was more my take on the joint statement.
