Prefer Alvarez and Foden to Grealish and Mahrez. More incisesive and better for the team.
Agree mate.

I could see those two opening up more space for our Viking with their movement around the box. It’s going to be a big call for Pep, but I’d go with those two.

in relation to Haarland, you could see the disconnect because it’s so ingrained into our players to try and walk the ball into the net because we haven’t had a striker. We’re just not familiar with the sharp movement and the positioning of a striker. Having said that, the big fella could still have got a couple of goals.

Getting back to the original point, I think we have to play Alvarez ahead of Mahrez next week. In my humble opinion Mahrez slows the play down too much. Alvarez will dart around and create space for Haarland, in a context where West Ham will in all likelihood will park the bus.

I dunno mate. Maybe nothing. I just have zero confidence in us winning a one off game against Liverpool. Which is pretty ridiculous when we have shown we are a better side than them for like 19 of the last 20 seasons
I get that a bit, we was better both league games last year and got 4 points the year before. This wasn’t a Liverpool thing today I just think we need another game or two for our rhythm.

just back . We didn’t look sharp enough yet .

City fans were brilliant very loud

special mention to the Leicester police who when we came out a didn’t know where our bus so we asked the police where the city coaches were and didn’t have a fucking clue, Or care .

Ahh, that’s the issue, you asked the wrong question.

If you asked “Where is the City bus being bricked with dippers standing on top of a white Maria?” You would have had a far better response.

Sorry La, like didn’t see it la

Utter nonsense. If we didn't have the team spirit they have as you put it we wouldn't have scored 3 in 5 minutes last season to beat them to the title, same as the last day at Brighton after going behind a few seasons ago. We're evenly matched, the past two games against them have come at the ideal time for them to face us. The FA Cup semi was in between two massive games against Atletico Madrid & we had a injury crisis of sorts, and we still nearly came from 3 down & yesterday we're 3 weeks into our pre season after giving our guys a extra week off with the ridiculous World Cup happening mid season. I'd argue from about the 30th minute yesterday up until the penalty they only offered any shout on the break which is what they do against us, like nearly every team we play against. They aren't any different or do anything tactically that stifles us. Want proof you'd have a good argument if we had Haaland last season the two 2 all draws in the league that we were the better team in we'd have won.

They're to be respected as a opponent Liverpool, their fans and the media not so much as they're twats but thinking they'd beat us 9 times out of 10 is utterly ridiculous. They can have the victory in the Community Shield, I know who I'm backing over 38 games to finish top and it isn't them.
Exactly. On the break. Same as the teams not at this level do only they do it at a level.

Let’s be honest, on a one to one basis the scousers will beat us 9 times out of 10. They have more belief and more desire. Man for man our team is better but I can’t ever see us getting any better against them. We’re clearly scared and in awe of them. They run us ragged. And anyone who doesn’t see that is deluded. Ignore all this pre season bullshit excuses, as a team their spirit is far better than ours.
2hrs later….. thought you might’ve got a few nibbles to be honest? “ must try harder next time” eh :-/

I don’t like the way some of us underplay results (performances) like this. This is more than a pre season friendly. Whilst it’s not the PL, CL, FA or LC, it is as a Cup to commence the season and is legitimate silverware. The excuses / mitigating circumstances that we roll out don’t mask this fact.

City chose the pre season schedule this year, as we did last year, and if we’re undercooked and not prepared then that’s on us. The end may justify the means (as people will say we lost this last year but won the PL), but let’s not kid ourselves that we didn’t want to win this and that it’s merely a friendly for fitness.

Pep played arguably his strongest team available today and whilst some positives can be taken, there are also a few concerns that, if we’re objectively assessing, are issues that this manager, team and some of the players have had over multiple seasons that seem to hurt us in “one off” matches if not over the course of a season.

The possession/conversion stats. Liverpool with less possession (43% to our 57%) had 4 shots on target to our 8 and ended up winning 3:1. They’ve converted 75% of their shots on target to our 12.5%.

Last time I went to Leicester was in the cup, night time game, and I'd seen some women walking alone a bit from the ground, looked like she was being followed by some lads who I don't think had been to the game. Told the police who wasn't interested one bit. Followed behind and she stumbled drunk and was grabbed, went over and got my eyeball cut open for it. Walked her to the train station where once again I informed the police, showed them my eyeball cut right open, again, they weren't interested. Was wearing my city top they kept just telling me to move on, go home, stop talking or I'd be arrested. Leicester police are a bunch of dickheads.

Ederson was good today, made a couple of cracking saves, not bad for a keeper who apparently can’t save according to the tools.
According to the stats he made 1 save. Liverpool scored 3 from their 4 shots on target. By contrast, Their keeper made 7 saves.

Hope haaland is up for a huge fight with the media and everyone who isn’t a city fan. He will get no plaudits or praise until he leaves and everyone in the country will seem to revel in his Failure (although it course in reality just the dipper loving media)

He seems to hate the press so he should have some fun!
Erling Bradbury is very harsh

Fans today were absolutely magnificent. What a bunch of knobs at the other end of the stadium. Shame about the result, but the only time the 'who gives a fuck' trophy has ever meant anything was when it shared a shelf with the other three domestic cups.
We looked off the pace, but otherwise OK. I am not concerned one bit.

It’s pre season and the result doesn’t matter I know, but it still rankles, we never beat this lit and we shipped 3 goals and our star recruit missed a sitter… typical city, but we will still win the league and hopefully the C L too with haarland scoring a hat trick in a 4- 0 drubbing of da pool!!!!

I don't think it's either in particular, I think it's good planning. Guardiola likes the players to get plenty of rest, something that came up a couple of times in the commentary, and come the end of the season we're able to do what we need to do.

Liverpool, on the other hand, had an intensive training camp, played an intensive game today and made it clear how they're going to approach the season. Pretty much the same as they did last season, and look how that ended for them. They were clearly knackered at the end of it. Who's prep would you rather have?
I think we need to debunk this myth that our season was far superior to theirs last year and that our prep was better. They won 2 domestic cups and were runners up in the PL and CL. We limped to the end of the season and won the PL. I think we were more out of gas at the end of the season than they were.

But I accepted that as there were summer tournaments and players returning several weeks after others, different rest periods, everyone at different levels etc. But this season I don’t see why we couldn’t have been more prepared than previous seasons considering the conditions were better for that.
For me that's no excuse as the other teams filled with internationals like the dippers and rags all had plenty of pre season games under their belt...it's just us that AGAIN have this lackluster pre season time and time again

We lost the charity season the Agueroooo season and last season and looked what happened.

Our opponents were not the team you wish to face if your not up to their fitness levels yet

The only irritant is that we have lost to the media darlings (which means a 24 sports media boycott).

Not too bothered about Haalands miss. It happens. The more concern is whether the likes of Grealish and Mahrez who weren’t great at the end of last season are going to push on.
I thought that we played reasonably well.
I believe that City have some work still to do though to get up to speed.
I think the dippers are up to speed, but will they be able to maintain that level of performance or will it drop off?

No, our backline is getting injured left and right that's why we ended up more draw and lose toward the end of eason.
