Liverpool are now well and truly in a scrap for UEFA Conference League qualification.

Think they're out of it now unless Newcastle completely fold

Can't see Liverpool going on a 5 game winning run at any point, and in fairness to United they're showing consistency now

Can only see liverpool squeezing into 4th if both Newcastle and Spurs just fall apart

I said Conference League… ;-)

Eh, I thought they executed their ‘be absolutely wank’ plan to perfection, personally.

Spitty and his £200m comment last night followed by "Liverpool have been sell one to buy one but they need to invest this time in a few players".

It's a fair comment. You look at 2021 when they bought Luis Diaz for £47m only after selling Taiwo Awoniyi for £8m. Or 2020 when they bought Jota and thiago for a combined £65m but only after they sold Dejan Lovren and Ovie Ejaria for £16m. Or 2018 when they bought Alison, Keira and Fabinho for £168m but only because they recouped £34m from Dominik Solanke and Danny Ward.

So clearly its a difficult financial balancing act especially when you factor in all the fucking bullshit!
I've done a calculation to work out the current squad cost of each of the 'Big 6'. It won't be 100% accurate as some clubs haven't published their 2022 accounts yet and even the ones that have been published won't cover last summers ins and outs. But it should be pretty close.

Us, rags and Chelsea should be around £1bn total cost.
Then it's Liverpool, whose current squad cost around £770m
Arsenal are around £675m
Spurs are around £500m.

So their squad cost significantly less than ours, united's and Chelsea's but I've already said they don't reinvest all their available cash, plus Arsenal seem to be doing fine with a less expensive squad and even Spurs are above them. Newcastle's squad cost will be a fraction of theirs.

surprised about Arsenal as they always seem to be spending big. They’ve obviously got their shit together on & off the pitch.

Spurs fall apart you say? That's top 4 for Liverpool then.
