I don't. I hope their whole first team get crocked and we have to play the tea ladies and kit washers.

Zabaleta in line for surprise return against Liverpool

The right-back was expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks after suffering a hamstring injury but trained on Tuesday ahead of Manchester City's fixture on Boxing Day

Pablo Zabaleta is in line to make a shock return for Manchester City’s fixture against Liverpool on Boxing Day after making a swift recovery from a hamstring injury.

The 28-year-old was initially expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks after picking up the injury during City’s 3-1 win against Leicester City in the Capital One Cup on December 17.

But the Argentina international took part in training on Tuesday morning and, providing he suffers no setbacks during a session on Christmas Day, will be part of the matchday squad that hosts Brendan Rodgers’ side at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday.

Gael Clichy deputised at right-back for Zabaleta in City’s 4-2 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side are currently one point behind Liverpool in the table and have won all eight of their Premier League fixtures at home this season.

City will be without Sergio Aguero for the match against Liverpool as the striker continues his recovery from a calf injury, while doubts remain over the fitness of Micah Richards, Matija Nastasic and Stevan Jovetic.

Rodgers says #LFC have just 17 fit players for trip to #MCFC on Boxing Day. John Flanagan latest injury with hamstring strain

We only had 16 in the full training setup yesterday didn't we? Although that may have excluded goalkeepers.

I think the 16 excluded keepers.

Do you think Pellegrini will do a pre-match press conference for Boxing Day game?

Here's a pic of Zab yesterday (23rd), you've probably seen this?

Yes it would. But I think the views on PZ are all speculative and purely based on him stepping up his training. That could be with Palace or Swansea in mind, or it could be Liverpool. We've got no way of knowing.

Good news anyway. Seems he'll be back soon, and will be another player we can bring back into the busy Christmas schedule. Micah sounds like he's making good progress too.
