A bit dated, the beginning of April, but a good drone video of the Stay City Hotel concrete core on Deansgate.

First of the four towers already making a visible impact on the Manchester skyline.

For those of you interested in piling.

Volker Ground Engineering - LinkedIn

VolkerGround Engineering has recently completed a job for a valued client in Manchester where they are developing a new residential apartment block in Ancoats, a busy commercial area of Manchester bound by car parks, hotels and business premises. Our scope of works included the design and construction of 133, 450mm diameter bearing piles up to 23m long and 65, 600mm diameter contiguous piles up to 12m long, penetrating into the underlying sandstone where loads dictated.

Air injection was used to assist the boring into the sandstone, keeping the auger free from debris and enabling the team to drill more efficiently, increasing productivity for the installation with our Soilmec SR75 piling rig.

Piling adjacent to a listed office building, the team undertook vibration monitoring to ensure the works were not impactful to the existing structure. On this heavily constrained site, the piles were extremely concentrated and required careful phasing to ensure freshly cast piles were not damaged throughout construction.

A high standard of measures ensured the safety of the site teams, resulting in an accident and incident free delivery.

Another day in piling heaven. 2 rigs for the price of one in Manchester.
Gathering pace now.

Thanks to both crews and the steel fixers that are just managing to keep up.

Screen grabbed from the latest North stand drone construction video by SS Skies posted by Norman on the North stand expansion thread.

With another 10-20 towers proposed and going up in the next 5 years, the Manchester skyline will look fantastic considering the size, population and economy of Manchester.

PROJECT UPDATE: One Victoria, Manchester

Maintaining a focus on project completion has helped our team at One Victoria, Manchester, achieve a significant milestone: both Blocks A and B are about to reach topping out.

Block A reinforced concrete frame has progressed to level 10, with parapet walls being formed. Block B reinforced concrete frame to level 10 was completed at the beginning of April.

The ground floor blockwork is 50% complete on both blocks, including the car park, water tank room, and LV room on Block B.

The focus over the next 6 weeks will be completing the substation at Block A.

While topping out blocks A and B is visible to everyone, much work has been going on behind the scenes. Internal first fix MEP, soil vent pipes, rainwater downpipes, and ducting are now complete.

Block B is now progressing with frames and glazing installed up to level 4, SFS steel and cement board up to level 6, and frames and glazing installed up to level 4.

Safe access has also been installed, commissioned and in use, including that for Great Ducie Street and Breslynn Street.

Great to see lots of progress on this new 129 residential apartment development in the heart of Manchester for our client One Heritage Group PLC.

Update on Owens Park, Fallowfield

Many of our alumni will be interested to hear that scaffolding has now gone up on the Owens Park Tower as demolition work gets underway at this Manchester landmark.

The Tower is coming down to make way for new, sustainable accommodation for future students, but before it does we want to celebrate the many memories and lifelong friendships that were made there.

Thanks to Sky Revolutions for providing AW Demolition Ltd with the Time Lapse Video of the Demolition at our Manchester City Centre project for Dominus Real Estate & Whitbread!

In its place.

Still to secure funding, which shouldn’t be a problem.

Greystar is in talks with Dominus and Whitbread to forward fund a £200m scheme on One Medlock Street, Manchester.

The site has planning consent for 1,014 student beds, as well as 387,500 sq ft of office space, granted

The (newish) apartments, forgot their name, fronting the River Irwell are absolutely shocking for such a prime site. Look at the ground and river front interaction.
