First, Zabaleta and Kompany would have improved under Mussolini or Basil Fawlty. Barry, Lescott and De Jong all lost value after joining City. I give Mancini credit for giving Hart the reins when he did over Given, but Hart's real leap forward happened at Birmingham.
Richards has always been an immense talent, but has not played enough games to really show if he's improved or not from being the player that Chelsea wanted to buy off us. For every player that you can argue has improved, there are multiples who didn't and many of those cost more than 10 million quid - Boateng, Kolarov, Silva, Sinclair, Nasri, Adam
Johnson, Tevez, Dzeko, Balotelli, Savic, Kolo, Adebayor, Santa Cruz...
I don't see much evidence that Mancini gets more out of players. Certainly not that the outside world values a player more after they have been at City. I see lots of evidence that we have bought stars and hope to get 80% out of what they gave to their last team.
