Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Dunno if bollocks but if that's what they want they can do one.

I'm not usually one to bang on about what players are worth and whether they are value or not but frankly, I'd expect to be talking about Neuer for those kind of figures not someone who isn't even as good as the keeper we currently have.

That is the point, all keepers make mistakes so to pick joe up on every one and want him gone is not reasonable imo

I like Joe, and yes other keepers make mistakes but he has shown a propensity to be especially vulnerable to them, particularly when commanding his area/deciding to punch (more often) or grab, and on his left side. He's an excellent shot stopper and with one on ones, but Ter Stegen is also miles better with the ball at his feet, distribution/passing.

But he has a good touch...

This has nothing to do with Joe Hart but I'm not convinced by ter Stegen in the slightest.

This came out of nowhere, if true fantastic business for 15m. Proper competition for Hart.
Yeah... I thought that Barca had agreed to make ter Stegan their number one keeper and had signed him to a new deal on that basis, killing off any possibility of transfer. I don't know what Bravo's status is - I could see a deal for Bravo (presumably he's upset at losing his starting role), but not for ter Stegan (personally I'd much prefer Bravo over ter Stegan in spite of the age differential).

Yeah, most likely Luis Enrique will make Ter Stegen his first choice (La Liga & CL), because otherwise its very likely Ter Stegen would want to leave as he last season already complained about his game time. This could likely result in Bravo becoming unhappy and available potentially. Bravo or Ter Stegen, either of them would be proper competition for Hart. Different class to Pantilimon or Caballero. Bravo is 33 years old but goalkeepers can potentially play until late 30s.

I just cant see any keeper coming in in this window. The money quoted is crazy for the keeper as well. I think Joe will start as number 1. I think he will be given the season to impress Pep. As for Willy who knows what Pep is thinking keep Willy or promote 1 of the younger keepers. Lawlor was out on loan last season is he good enough to step in as number 2? Or 1 of the other academy keepers.

Personally, I don't think Pep will change from his ball-control, play it out of the back, high press, centerbacks far forward system. In other words, Pep will want a sweeper.

I think it's more likely than not that we sign a sweeper this summer - but as you say, not for anything like 80+ million.

Barcelona have declared Marc-André ter Stegen to be 'non-transferable' after persistent interest from City. [SPORT]

I'd personally prefer to keep Hart and Willy and see how they go with a year in Pep's system. Focus the money and resources on other targets (Sane, Peres, Kroos and a LB).

I think Pep's complete gameplan starts with a sweeper keeper. If you see his training techniques this is what he is preaching. I think if Pep needs a GK, he would get one, even if it means Hart going to bench.

This is a point that many seem to miss when talking about our goalkeeping situation. For a Pep team to function it relies on a keeper who can be relied upon to keep the ball moving fast and accurately. It's a fundamental part of his game plan and those who think a keeper is there to just stop shots are living in the past.
Had we got any other manager then I doubt there would be a discussion and Joe would likely be safe, but we didn't and it means Joe is going to have to work hard on getting his feet right or he'll be struggling to play. It's harsh but it's what will happen.

Fuck Ter Stegen - it's Hector we should be going for. Does that mean Jordi Alba is available?
And that is why the rumor makes no sense. Alba is much better than Hector, suits Barca's style perfectly and also was a youth there.

Sweeper keepers? Name one in the Premiership. Manuel Neuer is a one off.

The most important thing is can the keeper protect his goal. All the better if he is good with his feet, but I don't see Guardiola scouring the market for a sweeper keeper. I didn't see anyone in the Euros doing that apart from Neuer. He's a one off
