Being described as 'not worse than Caballero with the ball at his feet' is hardly a description we want about our GK that can take us far into the trophyland.People are too ready to slag JH off but he is a top class keeper and one we are lucky to have. A far better keeper than anything else we have at present and a real leader as well.
Im not sure why people think he won't be able to adapt his game? I acknowledge his weakness is his distribution but last season he was clearly working on it.....his flat kicking to try and spring breakaways has hugely improved and something he has clearly been working on.
Yes he can still improve but people are too quickly righting him off..he is not worse than Caballero with the ball at his feet and a far better keeper in other departments.

You don't have to look far. You saw our preseason games against Bayern and Dortmund, the passing from the GK position was shambolic. Even after numerous misplaced passes Pep still insists on playing that way. And Joe's passing abilities is as good as Caballero's at best. Are you saying that after we manage to bring in the world's best coach, Pep should change his philosophy of playing from the back because Joe doesn't have the ability to do so? You have to be able to look past Joe in this instance. No one player is bigger than the club.thats nit picking
his positives make him a far better keeper than Caballero will ever be and better than most others as well...his shot stopping is excellent, in one and ones he is outstanding and his punching of the ball on crosses is good also.
He can improve his distribution with better defenders who are also more comfortable receivinga and giving the ball from and to the keeper......Kolorov, Mangala are two that are equally culpable in this and one of those will hopefully be gone soon (kolorov)

I think we agree with that. I think everybody wants Joe to have a chance to show if he can play that way. But that is exactly why Pep wants to bring in a GK that can already do that. If Hart somehow isn't up to it, and we don't have a capable substitute GK, then we're royally fucked aren't we? If Ter Stegen somehow comes it's a win-win either way for the club. It forces Joe to up his ball-playing ability, and if he's good enough surely he'll earn his place. If not, then we have Ter Stegen that has the ability to do it. What people is saying here is not about booting Joe out right now. I think people want Joe to fight for his place, but on the other hand we won't be surprised if we cannot adapt.No...Im saying that Joe Hart will and should be given every chance to improve this area of his game. I get the weak distribution argument, although some movement in front of Joe would have helped at times.Hart is a good shot stopper..On his right hand..Always suspect if anythings to his left.
