Funny how City get the blame for bullying smaller clubs, when all we've seemingly done is submitted a bid for a player which was rejected. Anyone who thinks we're big bad city should take a look at Bayern's transfer tactics, particularly in their domestic league.

Nothing to do with us if he hands in a transfer request or strikes now, who knows what was agreed when he came there originally. Not us as the public, that's for sure. Would seem maybe the player and his agent may think one thing, and Bloom another

For certain I can see any player thinking twice now before signing for Brighton. With all the good will in the world it's unlikely Brighton wil be challenging for much in the short term, and any player who feels he can reach the heights wants those assurances of being supported to move on if he earns it. But maybe cucurella is that important to them right now.

For me Brighton's valuation isn't reasonable, given the players experience and current ability, plus what he'd bring to us purely from a city point of view, all vs. the risk of any new signing plus also not being held to ransom for city tax, and we move on.

Bloom may want to point and accuse city of unsettling his player, but we've done little wrong and at the end of the day if we won't pay the fee then that is that. Brighton want to keep him more than we want to bring him in, that's all, they're entitled not to sell but may find it harder to attract top potential talent in the future, or to deal with city should one of our players take their fancy.

Brighton have the power because
1. They don't need to sell. They have already had some big sales this summer .
2. Cucurella is their player under 5 year contract and he is important to them.
3. They know we don't have a LB.
Offset somewhat by the fact he wants to leave and join us.

So much so that their manager is making up excuses for his current absence.

Being "relaxed" about the full back situation going into another long season with a World Cup for good measure is very naive. The club might actually be cursed at signing a left back.

Ok the season starts next week. But there's still a month before the window shuts. We have two players who can fill in for now. And there are a few candidates about. Not rushing this is... okay.

RB: Walker, Cancelo, Stones (R. Lewis, Phillips if push comes to shove)
LB: Cancelo, Ake, JWE (and Laporte after August)

We'll sign a new FB. We'll be fine till November, that's 3 months of football, even if we don't sign a FB now. In January, we'll have a new FB if we fail to get one in August.

Trust in the best professionals in the world. Don't take too seriously your own thoughts about how to run a club (unless you have lots of experience at that level).
