Whether we end up coughing up the money for him, knock Brighton down or sign an alternative, there’s absolutely no way we should have let Zinchenko go before we had the signing wrapped up. Makes no sense whatsoever.
The backup list is prob easily done and dusted pretty quick once they move on you would hope.

Maybe, yeah, but even here our position would be strengthened if we still had Zinchenko.

I can’t really think of any circumstance where letting Zinchenko go first would benefit us. If Arsenal didn’t want to wait, then fuck em, and we shouldn’t be helping our competitors’ pre-seasons anyway.

I’m perfectly happy for us to move on from Cucurella now, if we’ve decided we can’t get him for a price we think is reasonable.

No problem at all with that.

But to go into the season as we are with just two senior fullbacks would be extremely negligent of the Club, and would definitely warrant criticism.

I’d be going all in for Gaya at Valencia if it was up to me. He’s into the last year on his contract now, so you’d think there’s a deal to be done there.

If he’d be open to the move, he’d fit our style like a glove!

Helps him as well. needs to settle, move with a kid etc. He's at least earned that.

They wanted 42 for him last Jan. Not a bad shout, thought he injury record was terrible but seems fine after looking at it.

Hahahaha. Did you support Chelsea or something 15 years ago when they were buying a shiny new toy every week of the transfer window ?

The fact you think you know more than Txiki and co about how to negotiate a transfer is an embarrassment.

How do you know we are now ‘having to find a new full back’ !? Do tell me ??

Maybe Pep (as he has stated more than once) is happy to go with what we have. Don’t tell me you think you know more than Pep too ?

Moron.

If you believe managers don’t tell porkies especially when trying to sign players then the only moron around here is you.

Why would Brighton take less money than they want if we still had Zinchenko ?

Is it time to fire up the Ait Nouri Express???

I know it'd be hard for the song makers, but other than that... He'll be a nice consolation :)

I’m not inferring that they would.

I’m simply stating that if the deal didn’t happen, we’d still have Zinchenko and therefore wouldn’t be going into the season with no cover at all. From a squad perspective, we’d be much better off.

Admittedly I've only seen him play a couple of times but the Villereal lb Estupinan looked very impressive. Just my tuppence worth.

He’s not exactly set the league alight at Wolves so far, but he’s not a bad shout I guess.

I’d still prefer Gaya myself, but I’d be happy enough with Ait-Nouri.

Mendes client too, so you’d think we could get that one over the line.

No issue with walking away from this deal if its not felt value for money by City, but as others have said if we end up going into the season with only 2 senior fullbacks, one who was injured at the end of last season and the other who's not naturally even a LB, then it does feel like we're asking for trouble.

The reality is Pep won't gamble and play a youth player much at all, so it will be Cancelo & Walker every game, and any injuries will be filled by Stones at RB and Ake at LB - it's not a good situation to be in.

Now is time to step up our interest in whoever was on the back up list, it may not be ideal and end up a bit of a stop gap, but it would be better than our current situation.

If we don’t get Cucerella then I’m confident we’ll get somebody else, I’d be surprised if we don’t. If we didn’t though it will be because we choose not to.

I’d be surprised if we don’t sign someone as well, and it’s not panic stations by any means.

But as it stands we’ve needlessly put ourselves in a situation where we have just two full backs a week before the season starts. And if we don’t sign another full back, we should just have kept Zinchenko in the first place.

Thats correct. The club and Txiki are perfect and not capable of doing anything better than what they currently are. Even if you think the club and Txiki are doing great in 95% of all areas, if you suggest that there is room for improvement in the remaining 5% that can only mean you are either a Chelsea fan, a rag, or just a simple wum. At least its proven that you are without a doubt not a City fan, since no real City fan would ever have the audacity to suggest something the club does could be done better. Txiki obviously knows better than any of us, so that means none of us could have an opinion thats anything but 100% positive about what he does. If you think he did a great job with signing Haaland, that automatically means you must think he is also doing a great job with signing a new fullback. Just like we cant complain about our players performances in any game either, since they are all better footballers than us fans, we have no right to have anything but positive opinions about their performances. Anyone who suggest Txiki could or should have done one thing better is obviously a complete moron, as everyone knows, all smart people blindly believes everything another human do or say is perfect.
Its like the North Korea Fans forum ''Yu No Fuk All' on here sometimes.

Bloom should realise that even if we bought Cucurella for £35m, it would still be reported as £50m+ anyway

Just strange. Brighton and Bloom are within their right to set their price but seems like an unwise decision to keep a player who wants out (and doubling your investment less than a year later)

At least we have our annual winners of the "we stuck it to City" trophy. Now poor Spurs will truly win nothing this season

He wanted a chance to play regularly and in midfield, we felt he deserved a chance.I’m okay with that. We’ll be fine.
