Won the title by one point and nearly buggered it up with 20 mins to go, partly because we couldn't put the ball in the net.

Having a small squad cost us in the FA cup too, when our players were out on their feet.

Not amateurs but the club likes to take too many risks for my liking.

Going into the season with no recognised left back and only two fullbacks is another one.
oh no we only won the title by 1 point, for the 4th time in 5 years. how amateur.

Wow, 40 pages overnight on zero fresh information.

No one has even discussed the most logical conclusion that Cucurella was a smokescreen for signing Danny Welbeck.

We can only hope so.

In a weird kind of way I think this is a double smokescreen for signing John F. Evans. (Pep will know how to convert him into a wing back, Pep could convert a cement mixer into a fridge).

How many professional left backs are there in world football? Maybe 500 at a guess. To say only 1 fits our profile is a bit short sighted. Keep the faith, it will all be okay. City are the new standard in world football. City's business profile is working & City are possibly the most succesful club in world football...certainly in England. I'd personally like to stick with what we have or go for a south american. Alvarez looks hungry as anything and i love his work ethic.

Might have looked small time to some but you should never pay a penny more than you think something’s worth. If you keep doing that, soon you’re Barcelona. No need for us to gamble from a position of strength.
What's the position of strength

One in prison
A right back playing left back
Sold our back up

Some of the responses to people giving information/opinions such as Damien10, need to give their head a wobble

Nobody on here knows all the facts as to what has happened with valuations and limitations on what the club are prepared to pay for certain players.

What happens all the time on here somebody gives a snippet of what they believe and then are hounded if it doesn’t happen.

There are so many keyboard warriors on here who just love to try and make posters feel small.

All that happens is people with some information which I have no doubt shared in good faith, then decide the abuse back is not worth it and stop posting.

Sometimes it would be better for some if the transfer forum was only available once a player had signed the contact.
No. What happens is people with no real info bang on as if they know for sure what's going on by pretending they have a 'source'. When pulled up on this they flounce around and spit their dummies out.

We were warned that football is a special form of business and cannot be run like other sectors.
Our owner proved them wrong.

Got to think that those initial principles are still in place and we put value on assets which are bought and sold with profit in mind.

Selling Zinchenko before signing a replacement is an absolutely farcical way to go about business.

I know I know, the board are all geniuses and some people on here would make criticising them a crime punishable by death, but they are prone to fuck ups like this driven by nothing but their own stubbornness on occasion.

We literally haven’t had a proper left back since Kolarov and Clichy. It’s fucking mental.
Completely agree with you, I can understand the club are unwilling to pay 50m but to let Zinchenko leave before he has been replaced is utterly bizarre.

Zinchenko wanted more game time but at the end of the day he is under contract and we could have insisted he stayed until a new LB was acquired.

Jeez, I give up. You’re right, we’re doomed, relegation awaits.

I’m not saying I don’t want a full back, just that there’s a price you don’t go above. How much would you pay for this player, £50m, £70m, whatever it takes?

I’m surprisingly disappointed by this transfer! I just assumed wrongly we’d end up getting him and I thought he’d finish us off nicely.

How football works......
Brighton value Cucurella at £50M.
We don't think he is worth £50M and will not pay it.
Another team thinks he is worth £50M and are willing to pay it.
Therefore, Brighton are right. Cucurella's value is £50M!
It's not rocket science. It's a market - demand/supply/price

Taking some moral high ground doesn't gain us anything - doesn't get us the target player that Pep wants.
After letting Sterling go to Chelsea, this feels like gifting them another top class player.
Our club is trying to raise its profile positively on the world stage. This sort of approach, like last summer with Kane, risks making us look like amateurs.
Yeah. Kane came out smelling of roses there didn't he.
We only won the 4th out of 5 titles.
Fuckin amateurs.
