Matija Nastasic

I can't believe Hanson and Lawro haven't made an awful lot about this lads abilities (apologies if they have and I've missed it!). To see someone so assured and playing in CB position is exceptional. As has already been said - we have a real gem in the making here.

Can't think of anyone else

Possibly Raheem Sterling, he's done well in patches - but I would say that Nastasic has to be in the running, as he has played consistently well throughout the season (so far).

Good shout, Sterling will 100% get it even tho Nastasic has been the better performer. Walker won it over Sergio last season..

A little stat you might not be aware of

His tackle completion for the season so far is 96%
And his passing completion is 87 %

Vinny is at

Tackle 81 %
Passing 90%

To play in arguably the toughest and certainly most diverse league in the world he has coped incredibly. Each week he is given another challenge and each week he comes out unfazed and stronger... it's frightening/criminal how unnoticed he has gone, but in a way shows how brilliant he is.

Example on the 'can't be playing brilliant as he hasn't cleared one off the line or made a last second tackle' argument:

Vermaelen cleared Ba's effort off the line and got the plaudits by the commentators. But, the only reason Ba got the chance was because Vermaelen was 5-10 yards deeper than Mertesacker and if he was positioned correctly the incident and therefore plaudits wouldn't have occurred.

Back on topic, Nastasic is doing very well and seems to have his head switched on which is always good. Just needs to keep progressing as he has everything to be a top top player.

Yep. Vermaelen is dog shite and does that all the time. But somehow has this reputation of being a good defender because of that stuff and bizarrely, his goals.

As for young player of the year, no chance Matija gets it unfortunately. Cleverley, Rafael or Sterling methinks. Media favourites.

what i like about his passes is that he is comfortable in making a direct forward pass to a midfileder in an advanced position or even a striker.

He wont win YPOTY, if a player hasnt been hyped in the media or even talked about by the 23rd game of the season, they have no chance

Cleverley will get it imo

They might just return to default settings and give it to Rooney

I imagine at this stage of his career he's pretty happy, as are the rest of City, for him to just keep flying under the radar. We know he's one of the best young players in the league, that's good enough for now.

Nah... Sterling for sure.
