Sports sponsorship is generally used to get your brand know and in the forefront, Coca Cola, Amazon or Apple are already there
So could an unknown guy, let's call him Sam Onsour, for arguments sake, open a penny chew shop on the corner of Alan Turing Way and approach the club and offer to sponsor the teams shirt for the next 50 years at, say again for arguments sake, £250 million per year, because for him that would get him global exposure which he would consider good market value. Just asking for a friend.

Market value needs to be fair in the eyes of independent auditors who do this for a living. These auditors are generally agreed between the governing bodies and clubs. City have literally scores of sponsors, some world renowned like SAP and Nissan, others less known like Mary D‘s…getting sponsorship isn’t an issue, every knows that, it’s more the right partner and one that suits the club and it’s values. I don’t for example see us being sponsored by a betting company any time soon.

It’s strange that despite the money sloshing around in the PL and all the exposure brands would get, why we haven’t been able to tempt a corporate behemoth like Coca Cola, Amazon or Apple to sponsor us. That would surely propel our income closer to the rags, if not beyond, and give us more to spend on a Norwegian striker, for example. Why aren’t our business people aiming this high regarding shirt sponsorship?
Surely we have a decent relationship with Amazon after the All or Nothing series.
