Bloody hell, the Snooty Fox!!!! Used to go in there when I was in my teens. My brother used to date the daughter of the landlady.

Great pub, got a bit rough near the end. Which landlord the place had loads lol.

I went to Wilbraham and was a year or two younger than Eric, Clive and Eugene Wilson and of course Alex, but played with them a few times if they were a player short on the odd occasion and the games teacher needed to make up the 11 with someone from a year or two below. The school was a good supplier of talent for the blues in that era !

Yeah, it had a good run for a while. I played in the same team as Roger Palmer and Johnny Hart's youngest son Nigel who (through sheer determination) carved himself out a career in the lower leagues with Stockport, Lincoln and Chesterfield amongst others I think.

Used to love scoring hat-tricks against Wilbraham for Claremont Road.

Wilbraham was the posh Fallowfield school as far as us from Moss Side were concerned!

Ha ha, no I went to the high school in Chorlton, which definitely was not posh !

That's a relief. I thought I must be pissed because I didn't understand a word of it.

Great tackle and never a penalty! Just look at his guilty reaction. At least justice was done and the underdogs won the day.

I bet l wasn't the only one watching that clip and cheering when the pen was saved even though it was umpteen years ago.

They even had ex-dippers on the commentary then as well. At least Ian St John had some integrity.

And it wasn't a pen. Defender played the ball and Aldridge fell over him.

Should never have been a pen, but didnt stop the commentator announcing with some certainty "and thats a penalty" before backtracking to agree with Ian St John.

My brother may remember some of them, he was more of a regular in there than I was.

I was in the same year at junior school as Barry Cattell. He had a twin brother John. To say they were a bit rough around the edges was putting it mildly.

Yes I had forgotten Roger and did Paul Hart go to Chorlton High? ( the old enemy ).

Changed its name to Oakwood High School in the early 80s. Now called Chorlton High again.

There were 2 high-schools in Chorlton. Chorlton High and the mighty Wilbraham then they merged in later years and as you say became Oakwood for some time !
