Metrolink to / from Etihad

The topic is: Metrolink to / from Etihad.

My comment on travel to the Etihad has been that the difficult step is not the City centre to the Etihad but getting into Manchester from afar. The City centre to the Etihad is easy. It is London/Glasgow/Newcastle/etc - Manchester that is dysfunctional. A sense of perspective is required.
Getting to the Etihad from the centre isn't easy if you aren't capable of walking and need to rely on public transport. You can't park anywhere near the ground unless you are lucky enough to book in one of the official car parks but then have a greater than an hr wait to getting off there to look forward too. The infrastructure around the ground to and from the city centre isn't fit for purpose and hasn't been improved upon at all since we extended and the coop opened which is a scandalous oversight . Just because you can walk and find it easy doesn't mean everyone else can and given the overwhelming volume of comments echo how difficult it is you may want to have a think if your solo opinion is actually relfelective of the situation for most match goers or if actually you are wrong.

He's tried this on with me earlier in the thread mate. Talks absolute shite at times.

Not the Metro’s fault granted, but the Arsenal game could be a bit of a shit show with the marathon on as well. The trams from Altrincham, Sale etc will be rammed.

This shit show proves that the clowns that designed it and then added to it were totally incompetent.
Virtually everything is routed through Cornbrook and Peters Sq. When they are shut half the network is down.
For a 2nd City we are wank

I know what you mean. But re the city centre to the ground journey, I usually walk. It’s perfectly fine (especially if it’s not pouring down!).
However it’s not for everyone, and I think it’s worth bearing in mind the age profile of the average poster on here is on the older side, so I’m guessing there’ll be a fair few reading this for whom that walk there and back from town might be easier said than done.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to remind you, as I’m sure you’re aware, that the Manchester Marathon is taking place on Sunday.

It’s the busiest day of the year for the tram network, especially in the areas where the marathon passes through – and that’s without the match taking place.

We’re expecting to see very busy services in the likes of Altrincham, Timperley, Sale, Stretford and Chorlton. You’re likely going to have to queue for a service, so please leave plenty of time (an extra half an hour minimum is recommended).

If you usually drive, or take a bus, remember that there a significant number of road closures. Those roads that remain open will be a lot busier, with many buses operating on diversion (including some of our match day bus services).

The peak time of the marathon in the city centre clashes with the time many fans will be travelling to the match, so expect the area around St Peter’s Square, Oxford Road and Deansgate to be busy as well. If you’re picking up a tram in the city, we’d advise you to use Piccadilly or Piccadilly Gardens.

All in all, travel early to ensure you get to the match in plenty of time!

Anyone else’s Metrolink season pass cannot working for tonight’s game? Tried scanning it on all the devices at the Met stop and it didn’t work on any of them.
Doesn't matter as long as you've got it on you.

Yep happened to us and Sod’s Law enforcement people came on the tram.
They accepted our explanation and I’ve just been to fan support to inform.
They think it’s cos the fixture has been quickly arranged.
They have promised me a email later today
