Metrolink to / from Etihad

Getting to the ground, if you're driving in from the Fylde then park at the free Metrolink Park & Ride at Ladywell. The trams on that line go direct to the Etihad so you'll be on early and won't have the problem of trying to get on a crowded tram in town.

Going back, either walk it, as people have said, or jump on a bus.
Why not use the supporters coach, 3 go from the Blackpool area, leave 20 mins after the game.

Yep happened to us and Sod’s Law enforcement people came on the tram.
They accepted our explanation and I’ve just been to fan support to inform.
They think it’s cos the fixture has been quickly arranged.
They have promised me a email later today
So if your explanation wasn't accepted what would have happened do you know?

Mine declined.
As did mine.
A common problem last night apparently.
I raised an online query immediately and showed the card to staff as required to get through the turnstile at the Etihsd to get home.
"Another one" was the comment from the turnstile operator with a shake of the jeans...
I await a response from Metrolink today.

I Contacted Metrolink last night before the game.
They said this is a issue with City and not us and i tend to agree as our contract is with City and Metrolink have no details of who i am.
Managed to get back last night without any further checks.
I was told i would get a email from City last night about it but as of this morning nothing.
City told me a the fan office that the late change of date for the game probably was the issue

Although not the season pass you are referring to I had to put a claim in a few weeks ago when the machine at my end stop wouldn’t recognise my device to tap out. It affected everyone so it wasn’t my phone. I got a refund with a snotty response about making sure I tap out (clearly not understanding the problem).

I’m going to buy physical tickets from the machine from now on.

Warning for those going to the parade or the Co-Op show - Metrolink have planned works in Piccadilly Gardens so no through trams to/from the campus - all trams will run Piccadilly Station to Etihad and then to Ashton. Also, they seem to be running only every 15 mins, not sure if there's scope to have any extras.

So, I'd basically avoid the Met if you want to travel to the Campus on Monday.

Usual shit show, haven't they just had Piccadilly and Cornbrook closed for ages, what's the point of that if it still keeps on closing, particularly when people are off work and want to get out and about?

Every 15 mins is the new timetable schedule across the network while they train up new drivers. They need more because they accepted the existing drivers were driving too many hours, so it’s a safety issue really. Hopefully we’ll get back to every 12 mins asap.

Yes, thats right. The other issue is that there's normally two services each with 15 min frequency - so 7.5 mins. However, as trams are trapped between Piccadilly and Ashton and cant get back to the depot, they can't increase the frequency to cover the extra traffic and cant run the service that normally goes to Altrincham.

Did you receive an email from City on this matter? Is your concern that if your card is declined at the machine then you cannot travel?

Nothing from City.
My only concern is getting a fine from the enforcement people as mentioned earlier they came on the tram and inspected the ticket last time and said not valid for travel.

Ok, my personal experience is this. Metro season card for 10 or so years. Very rarely tap in or out. Been asked to present my card a few times, not had a problem. The issue of the journey being invalid if the card has been declined whilst tapping in needs sorting then. You are still in possession of a valid card (putting the declined issue to one side) for travel in my opinion. A dodgy machine or system shouldn't prevent travel in these circumstances.

Understand about the fine concern but honestly could not see that happening. Would like to hear if that's happened to somone.
