It’s always an emotive subject to discuss, but there have been some excellent and interesting posts from all different perspectives I think most people like myself sit in the middle, we can see both sides but a small minority are so wedded to where they have planted their flag it becomes impossible to talk or debate
I hope people do spare a thought for all the innocent people who are suffering on both sides, my one hope is after this horrible tragedy that the minds of the world leaders will finally say enough is enough a peaceful and equitable solution must be found we can’t carry on like this
Don’t we all Ducado? Well I hope we do.
However what I fear the current course of action will do is draw more Arab militants into the conflict.
Would Iran ultimately get involved?
If they did what would America do?

There is absolutely no doubt that the Palestinian plight does get sympathy in Ireland and I hope I have given context in my limited contributions as to why that might be, but I would say that especially with the atrocities we have witnessed from Hamas and objective reporting and interviewing of innocent ordinary Israelis caught up and affected by this, people who believe in a two state solution, who equally abhor the plight of innocent Palestinians caught up in it all, there is the acknowledgment that this is an impossibly complicated conundrum.
I’ve nearly been in tears hearing accounts from ordinary civilians.

But we know better than most that the answers will only lie in dialogue.
I really don’t see a way forward in polarisation of opinion.
I believe compromises were made north and south in Ireland and I think John Hume and the likes of Mo Mowlam were instrumental.
I don’t think it would have been possible under Haughey over here and Thatcher with Britain.
Netanyahu is certainly not the answer. I haven’t a clue who on the Islamic front could show the leadership required.
