It really doesn’t matter who’s at fault for not wanting peace. The reality is that not working towards peace is a dead end for everyone. Unless one side believes they can completely annihilate their opposition then all this is pointless. That’s logic.
Imo if the current Israeli government made an announcement saying they would work towards a two state solution with willing Palestinian peace seeking partners, with key dates and transition landmarks as a part of a post war peace plan they would gain so much political capital.
Not only would many international partners be praising their initiative, regional neighbors like Saudi Arabia, UAE, and other parts of the Arab league would happily give legitimacy to Israel’s peace plan if Israel shows they are genuine, and even help Israel find Palestinians leaders to broker such a peace. This would be the most effective way to undercut Hamas’ and other terrorist groups clout with the Palestinians.
Would this change hearts and minds overnight? Of course not, but with many Palestinians already under the age of 18 their would be a path to win the hearts and minds of future generations.
