Mourinho quitting? (merged)

If we don't win the league, would put the order as City, Spurs, Liverpool.

Otherwise, fight between Liverpool and Spurs.

Dalglish will do what is right for the club, long-term, not himself.

Mourinho's next job is five years and City will have missed the boat.

If Soriano is employed, forget it.

He stopped him getting the job at Barca according to his book.

Interesting one. Either our owner believes Mourinho is the man he really wants at the helm or he doesn't? Bearing in mind that the title this season could go to the wire and be decided by a dodgy refereeing decision, or a missed sitter, or an individual piece of brilliance, it hardly seems to me to be the best basis to decide something as important as who is the right man to take this club forward?

Interesting; why did he not want him? I can think of a few reasons but what did he think?

Too much week on week bullshit with the media, too much hassle with the high maintenance ego, lack of respect for Barca's heritage and history, too much of an autocrat/my way or the highway - essentially lacking in the class and dignity a club like Barcelona expect from their manager.

I'm surprised you think Spuds and Liverpool are viable options, just can't see it myself.

Pep maybe? How amazing would it be for us to have Vincent Kompany as our manager in 15 years time, who unlike a lot of past players is actually a very good manager? I'd take that over having in someone like Mourinho.

I also disagree with the notion that Mourinho would want a massive transfer budget wherever he went. If he came to us frankly he wouldn't need one, we already have an immense squad. He would maybe want to add a player or two of his own but you're not talking 100m+ rebuilding jobs.

Something that I don't think we know a lot about him given his time spent at many clubs, but what's he like for giving youth a chance? With our new academy project etc that's going to be a huge huge part of any City manager. I think Mancini is the man to deliver the long term stuff if we give him a chance. To think in his first full season in charge, with a load of new players who hadn't played together, and improving a load more, some to exceptional levels, he delivered 3rd place and a trophy. In his second full season we're playing the best football bar none, top of the league, have been for ages, scoring more goals than anyone and conceding less, and on track to bring home our first ever Premier league. If we win the league this season what's in store for next season? Domestic double? Champions League?!

Lack of patience combined with greener grass syndrome is one of the very fundamental flaws of modern football. If we chopped Mancini in for not winning the league and got Mourinho I think I'd just feel a bit dirty.

Steady on, this is a club that employed Terry Venables, another Cockernee wide boy in the Redknapp mould!

Much as I love Bob the one guy I would welcome with open arms is Mo

Yes he might come across as a bit of a **** at times but he would be our **** and he has an unbelievable track record. No manager can guarantee trophies but Mo is as good as it gets.

Plus if there is one manager I dont want standing in out way it's Mo

Jose will only go to a club that puts a decent transfer budget on the table for him as he's not interested in being second best, he wants titles and cups.

IMO you can rule out Arsenal and Spuds straight away based on funds and wage caps.

Rule out Liverpool as they are just too far behind now and again can't see them being able to offer the transfer funds he'd require.

Only chance scum have is if they are bought out and bacon is asked to move upstairs.

Leaves us and Chelsea.

I can actually see him back at Chelsea, enough time has passed now where I don't think Roman would have a problem allowing him back.

With us, it just depends whether Sheikh Mansour wants him or not. I have no doubts that he has hankered over him in the past, whether or not he still wants him at the helm only the Sheikh will know.

Always worth bearing in mind that should we win the title Bob may feel his work is done and decide to move on, he won't be short of offers and if the Italian national job becomes available he may fancy that.

I can't see that myself, Roberto would surely want another crack at the CL with the resources at his disposal. I used to like Mourinho when he was at Chelsea but in recent years he's overdone the "look at me" angle with the repeated El Classico controversies. I know he does it to take the heat off his players but he's overstepped the mark too often for my liking.

You just never know though in football, the part you didn't highlight is relevant - if the Italian national job became available and was offered who's to say Bob wouldn't want it?

Mancini is better for us but remember our owners are billionaires who can do whatever they want. I can see why Mancini could be replaced with Mourinho.
