I am sure City would like Ake to stay but if the lad wants to go and we have an offer on the table to make a profit then you do the deal.

Pep has spoken at length on several occasions about not keeping players who don't want to be here as well as the difficult in keeping players who don't play happy. Ake is being offered the chance of going back to his first club as a starting defender for a team in the CL. We can't offer that, plain and simple.
 
Every single club has at least 4 proven and experienced center-backs, just in case of injuries. We have had 4 in two seasons and nobody was complaining. We need a replacement for Ake, if not, we would be in trouble again.

Exactly, we can’t keep £40m players on the bench with the offer of 5-10 games per season

the market has been pretty dormant for a few years , players now want to get their futures settled
 
He looked half decent at times and it’s very hard to be half decent when not getting a run of games. But he isn’t at the level we need.

I said it when we signed him, he was always right there when goals were being conceded, just short of a block or trying to cover. But for me his judgement is a half second too slow for what we require. Probably would have gotten it given games and time, but when you can’t afford to drop a single point that’s a luxury.

Yes that means we’re gonna have to find someone good enough to push stones, Laporte and Dias whilst being happy to play 50% of games, but in txixi we trust.

He hasn't even left yet and you are already moaning there is no replacement. Calm down ffs.

No one has the same level of 4 centre backs we have, usually you have three max then either kids or veterans
 
Very disappointing if true. If he is pushing to go, I don't suppose it's worth hanging on to him but feels like one sale too many to me.

Van Dijk, Matip, Gomez, Konate - first example. Ake is not a top CB IMO, but a good player, Stones is very injury-prone. We would be in trouble if we wouldn't replace him.
