If you watch what happens on the pitch, KDB is already the captain. He conducts the forward plays and berates the younger ones for messing up like he did with Sane on the weekend. The others are in awe of him and fear him.

Couldn’t agree more. He was the de facto captain against Spurs. He relishes responsibility in the same way Vinny did in his pomp. He’s older than his years. Kev for future captain.

We’ve got many candidates, Stones, KDB, Fernandinho, Silva, Otamendi, leaders all over the pitch who do so by example by dominating their positions.
No one gave Otamendi much chance of securing a first team place last season, but he has indeed been Superman this season, the ball doesn’t arrive on his head by chance. While I’m not saying he should be captain, he has stepped up to be the “General” at the back with Kompany and Stones absence, he has been our ever present.

We have a team of captains. KDB was out of order having a go at Sane that time as he delayed the pass by taking an extra touch which meant Sane had to slow down or be offside though it was just a touch of frustration I think. Stones should be the captain in a year or two for a very long time.

Yeah, Kevin has some great leadership attributes but occasionally blames others for his mistakes. A little more maturity will get rid of that and imo would make him an ideal captain in a couple of seasons time. As a stop gap, Fern or David equally good.

Long term I would hope that Stones gets his reward,as he`s extremely comfortable in front of the media.
However the main reason for any captaincy is the ability to show professionalism at all levels including your peers.
Hopefully Stones can continue where he left off before his injury.Last night showed that he`s not that far too go.
For me a true captain in the making.Show him the ropes Vinny.

We do have a great choice of leaders. David immediately, but Skippers ultimately tend to naturally show themselves. KDB is perhaps still a bit of a hot head, but is a great on-the-pitch leader. Stones would appear a natural successor, but also the likes of Ilkay, Benjamin, Kyle all seem to have maturity and great qualities.
