Nissan - sponsorship confirmed (page 7)

I don't think anyone should get too hung up on what Ducker has said.

1.) He's a journalist, if his mouth is moving he's probably lying.
2.) How does he know and no-one else does. No announcement from City
3.) He says 'over £20m'. Well there are many figures over £20m - £21m, £50m, £100m etc

Nissan are a global automotive corporation and a welcome addition to the City family. What is not to like ?

I would have thought that 20m over 5 years is way off the mark. The deal covers the whole City brand (Manchester, New York, Melbourne & Japan).

then its £80 million deal. (if it is £20 million per CFG club) which means £16 million to CFG per year.

Any deal will be proportional city will be the main portion, NY a bit less, heart a fraction and who knows who is to come! Who knows what else it brings too? Who knows what reverse exposure in for example Japan it can bring !

I realise that £20M over 5 years may be seen as a small amount for sponsorship of MCFC but am I alone in seeing this as a major amount for the sponsorship of particularly the Ladies Football Team ?

W'll find out when UEFA suddenly look at our accounts in 18 months and see it's 100M a year and think of ways to change the rules - no Japanese car companies?

I suspect the deal is important because a) its a major corporation b) its the first sponsorship for the City Football Group and c) its not the usual 'Tom Glick says...' but Khaldoon himself giving it major oil in the press release.

So its significance is not so much the amount but the who and what its for (CFG). I reckon the media will be pondering the implications of this over the next few days. Ah who am I kidding they won't have a clue as to the implications and what it all means. Come to think of it I'm not sure I do either. But if Khaldoon thinks its worthy of his honeyed words then there is probably more to it then just another sponsor.

Manchester City announce commercial partnership with car manufacturer Nissan

-City announce commercial partnership with car manufacturer Nissan
-Nissan become 'official automotive partner' of the club
-Deal continues City's development into a major European force

Manchester City’s emerging development into one of Europe’s leading sides was reaffirmed on Thursday after they announced a ground-breaking commercial partnership with Japanese firm Nissan.
Sportsmail understands that the deal is worth ‘10s of millions’ to Manchester City and it is the biggest automotive partnership in the Barclays Premier League.
Nissan become the official automotive partner of Manchester City, in a deal that is understood to dwarf other deals of its kind in the Premier League, such as Chelsea’s partnership with Audi and Arsenal’s arrangement with Citroen.

Manchester United’s partnership with Chevrolet is worth considerably more but that is a unique case as it is a kit deal that allows the American company to sponsor United’s shirts.
The five-year deal, which will certainly be worth in excess of £20million to City and potentially more, grants Nissan siginificant brand presence at the Etihad Stadium and on City’s digital platforms. Nissan electric vehicles will also be used when the eagerly awaited City academy campus opens up later in 2014.
The Nissan logo will also adorn the back of the Manchester City women’s football shirt as the Japanese automotive company become the Official Lead Partner of the Women’s team. It also forms part of a wider partnership that will bring benefits to the City Football Group, which includes New York City Football Club and Melbourne City.

City have adopted a more aggressive approach to their commercial strategy in recent times, in an attempts to meet the requirements of Financial Fair Play, after falling foul of the regulations at the end of last season.
Sportsmail understands that the club are no longer unduly concerned by FFP and they believe that they are at a break-even stage with their finances, meaning that they will not be in line for any punishments when UEFA assess the spreadsheets at the end of next season.

City’s clean-cut, evolving image, decorated by an increasing number of trophies, is understood to be acting as a major lure to sponsors and in the corridors of power at the Etihad Stadium, executives are delighted by this latest breakthrough. The deal follows the announcement in May that City had acquired a stake in the Nissan-owned Japanese side Yokohama F. Marinos.
Chairman Khaldoon al Mubarak said: ‘We are delighted to be working with Nissan as CFG’s first group-wide global partner. Nissan is a leader in innovation and sustainability; values which are also at the heart of our own organisation.’

Obviously the Daily Mail's normal witless anti-City muppets are on their summer jollies.

That is a really positive and upbeat slant.

"City’s clean-cut, evolving image, decorated by an increasing number of trophies, is understood to be acting as a major lure to sponsors and in the corridors of power at the Etihad Stadium, executives are delighted by this latest breakthrough".

That was never written in a British paper? Kin'hell!
