I think it was a joke but not sure lol , but if it wasnt .. rumours have been out for a couple of weeks now and they are fairly accurate , or at least some of what I've seenAre they big enough in the states for that.
Genuinely struggling to shake off these gigs, such euphoria and emotion that it was hard to take it all in (not helped by so many beers)
They’re back at Wembley end of Sept, I simply have to be there again.
So amid all the euphoria, these were my impressions having seen them for the first time at Murrayfield yesterday.I will preface this by saying I didn't grow up with them me being a FOC, I got to like them through my kids, one of whom was with us last night along with my granddaughter.
The overwhelming memory is how passionate the audience was and I would say it was made up primarily of Oasis contemporaries and younger. It was a massive party atmosphere quite different to every gig I have been to (and I have been to quite a few). Liam didn't really need to sing as the words to most of the songs were belted out perfectly by most of the audience. I was driving so wasn't drinking but most were and lots of it. Beer was thrown about with abandon and at £8 per pint was not a typically Scottish thing to do. Yes we got wet but at least it was beer.
I can only talk about the East Stand but Scots seem to have little knowledge of how to do a proper Poznan. It didn't last long :-(. We were all decked out in City shirts and I did see some but not as many as I thought I would.
The stage show was very very good. Massive three screens enveloping what was a very big stage anyway. Its the first gig I have been at where I was happy enough to watch the screens rather than strain my already failing eyesight to catch the small figures performing live. The images on the screens were fantastic. Most of the band were in very clear black and white. Other graphics ranged from pictures of the young Gallaghers growing up and then in the band. Some stuff was clearly tribute to The Beatles. It was excellent and very appropriate to the songs.
The music? Well what do you expect at an Oasis concert. The set list was mostly what you have seen published. They played for around two hours which went very quickly. Liam was in good voice and remains an excellent front man and full of all the attitude you would expect. I wonder if they will ever return to Edinburgh after falling out big time with the local clowns in the Council. There was zero interaction on stage between Liam and Noel (that I saw). Musically they were ok. Some of Noel's guitar work wasn't that wonderful and I have seen him play far better at the couple of HFB gigs I have been at. That wasn't that important though as 99% of the crowd were there for one huge party and that is exactly what they got. Fireworks were ok at the end. We had good seats that came with some free merch so I am now the proud owner of an Oasis tote bag, Oasis badges and best of all an Oasis Live bucket hat (two sizes too small). Joking aside it is clear from the money they have poured in to the tour that they have done their best to make it a memorable experience for all that attended and in that they succeeded.
I have been to Murrayfield both for many Rugby internationals and quite a few concerts including Bruce, The Stones and REM. It doesn't touch the Etihad for a pleasurable experience. Narrow concourse walkways, insufficient signage, pinch points for access and exit, poor lighting around the stadium, lack of stewards...
I will never drive to a concert there again. That was a story in itself.
My daughter loved it and was far more emotionally involved. My granddaughter (18 last Sunday) is already a veteran having done about 10 different gigs in the last year (Billie, Taylor and many more) but this was very different for her and she had a whale of a time.Nice summary that. Fair play for never being a massive fan and not drinking! You could appreciate other aspects that I would have missed.
Trying to work out with my wife earlier what was the tune we enjoyed the most last night. Genuinely couldn’t decide as we loved them all !!! Bonkers.
At Wembley it was acquiesce or talk tonight for me. I literally haven’t stopped listening to the full set list since the gigTrying to work out with my wife earlier what was the tune we enjoyed the most last night. Genuinely couldn’t decide as we loved them all !!! Bonkers.
Even Oasis wouldn’t get a residency in the states not with their history. I”d be surprised if it happened.I think it was a joke but not sure lol , but if it wasnt .. rumours have been out for a couple of weeks now and they are fairly accurate , or at least some of what I've seen
Thats what im refering too as being accurateEven Oasis wouldn’t get a residency in the states not with their history. I”d be surprised if it happened.
European tour next year plus Knebworth and the Etihad.
I was also at Murrayfield last night - they were equally as good as they were at Heaton Park when I saw them on night one. It was a totally different experience for me as I was side onto the stage - supposedly restricted view, tickets were £40, but I was brilliant looking down on the Scottish fans going mental. It felt we were really close to the band, seeing them walk on from behind where they embraced the fans that could see them, and Liam mimicked that he was going for a key in the backstage portaloo, which was something everyone who could see enjoyed.
Only real complaint was the warm Tennents cans in a plastic pint glass for £8 and the woeful bar service - everyone was limited to four drinks, it took over an hour to get served and I ended up pouring my own to speed things up. I just about got back in time for them getting on stage but god, it was stressful. I don’t think I’ll ever complain about service at the Etihad again. Anyway that wasn’t the bands fault and the gig itself was next level.
How long did it take you?Yeah, seen a lot of complaints about the organisation in general at Murrayfield compared to the likes of Heaton Park & Wembley.
We were there on Saturday and were sat in W1, basically opposite the stage in the corner. It seems we struck quite lucky, we were to go in the Green Section, rocked up about 5.45pm and had about 6 folk in front of us. Walking round the South Stand to our seat, we could see the bar behind the stand had literally no queue, so between my mate and i we bought 6 pints to last us the gig.
Also, we could get in and out the urinals at the mens toilets no problem, no queue at all there either. Only issue was if you needed a cubicle, as the girls were queuing in the men's toilets for that as their toilet queue was so bad.
My only issue was getting the bus home, but that was nothing to do with the band or Murrayfield.
How long did it take you?
I sat in my car in Balgreen Road for an hour. 8 miles home took nearly two hours. the A8 through Corstorphine was mental. Took me an hour to get in as well as the Bypass was doing its well worn impression of a car park.
Sounds shambolic and potentially dangerous. Bit like the tram at the Etihad:-). The last two times we have been to concerts at Murrayfield, we got a justpark on Riverside Crescent which is within spitting distance of the stadium. Because we were in the West Stand we were able to get back to the car quickly and onto the bypass within 20 minutes, we couldn't believe it. This time in the East stand we had to fight our way to the west. No stewards or separate paths for different directions, just mayhem and it would have been easy to set some organisation up as Roseburn Park is big enough to have a separate route for East and West. When we finally got to the car we had to drive up Balgreen Road and onto Corstorphine Road. As the traffic on Corstorphine road was stationary we just didn't move until that had cleared. No police directing traffic, just every car for itself. Poor bloody residents! The problem was the lack of info. Citylink had put out that due to the road around Murrayfield being closed the regular 900 service wouldn't be stopping at Haymarket, Roseburn Bridge & Shandwick Place. So i asked where they would be stopping & they just said Murrayfield - Costorphine Road will be closest.
But my wife said when they were there for Harry Styles, they had extra buses at a temp bus stop but you need to walk closer to the zoo.
We were all bottlenecked on exit so we splintered off through the car park and over Saughtonhall Bridge, through a couple of resedential streets eventually making ourselves onto Western Terrace, where we turned left towards the zoo. This was the big mistake. We made our way to the actual Citylink bus stop just after the turn for Balgreen Road, where there were a few other guys waiting. Then when the 900 came, it actually turned down Balgreen Road (Which it never does), so we chased it, & the driver said it was full & there were a few buses parked up that were extra buses for the gig, but they were at a temporary bus stop back towards the stadium.
We walked back the way, and eventually found the stop, with a Citylink rep at it. However, there was also a mob waiting, no orderly queue or that, maybe 80-100 people. There were extra, empty buses back a bit, but because the traffic wasn't flowing, they couldn't reach the stop. When they did reach the stop it was pandemonium, people pushing from the back, people being crushed against the bus etc, the Citylink rep had to basically act like a bounce, everyone was shouting at each other. My mate went straight to the front and was buttering up the Citylink rep, me & my 14 year old lad just sort of ghosted our way behind him, & i think we got on the 2nd bus that came along.
Once we got on the bus, it was actually not too bad, i think we got to Harthill about an hour later, so about 12.40am? My son said never again lol.

Next time if there is a next time, I will get the bus into town, get a tram to the stadium and then walk back into town. The brucie benefit of that is at least I can have a few pints.
