I think that Sunday proved that this signing would be the one which would make a huge difference between a good season and a truly great season.

If Sunday was anything to go by, it would more likely be the difference between a great season and sacking the manager.

I wouldn't go that far as any manager needs time (but it might call into question the rationale behind sacking Roberto Mancini)

Yes, but apparently Mangala won't transfer till summer.
 
If its true then City must be getting encouragement behind the scenes from Pepe and/or his agent ..... Can't see RM selling him in this window and £25m for a 30 year old makes me think City are getting a bit desperate to bring in another quality CB after it seems Mangala our number one target wont move in this window ...
