PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I cant help but feel the PL really want to lose this case, the fallout if they were to win would be huge. For starters they would be setting a precident of investigating clubs over a long term basis, in addition to us they are currently looking at Everton, the red tops will be pushing for Newcastle to be very closely monitored. The Rags have now been fined by Uefa and as such surely there is a duty for the PL to investigate them as well, Chelsea are spunking money on long term contracts and huge deals, again it would seem reasonable to have a good look at them as well. ou have to wonder how Arsenal are funding some of their deals as well.

You then bring in the new FFP rules that will have to be monitored and the whole thing becomes a minefield. We havent even touched on the legalities of any punishments etc..

I think these are really quite a lot of different things.

Everton failed PL FFP but will make representations on what can be discounted to minimise how much they overspent by during the covid years.
MU were a minor overspend (whatever that entails) of UEFA FFP during covid years; yes the PL will probably have a look, but they look at everyone's FFP accounts anyway, so this isn't new.
Chelsea haven't failed FFP currently, that may come in a couple of years when the 3 year cycle comes round.
City are being investigated for not providing accurate accounts (as a simple summary, it's a lot of things) in the past.

It's like comparing apples and pears and other apples.

They'll need a lever to investigate anyone in the way City are being investigated.

This is the bit I don't get. Sheikh Mansour does deals worth billions in this country all the time. He bailed out Barclays Bank. To produce fraudulent accounts (as the PL claims) would involve a conspiracy of hundreds of people over a decade. It would involve all our major investors, auditors, Manchester City Council etc. It can't be true because if it was there would have been a whistleblower. The discredited Der Spiegl (Rui Pinto) emails are irrelevant to the latest PL allegations which are much more serious.
The bank that is one of the sponsors of the Premier League.
A tad ironic?

I thought that they were fined for 'fessing up to providing inaccurate information; a very curious one, but may be Boehly biting the bullet to prevent anything more.
I didn't think that they were found to have breached FFP.

Dont get me wrong, im not saying that they are all the same thing. What i am saying is that this will be the start of an investigation culture that they are just not set up to deal with.

Ah, got your meaning, thanks.
Yeah, they can judge FFP breaches because the clubs provide numbers. The details is where they will struggle to prove things.

As far as I can see, the only settlement agreeable to City would be an entire retraction and apology for the charges.

I don't think any apology can rectify the amount of damage that has been caused.
In the eyes of the average sun reading, beer swigging, football fan,we cannot possibly be innocent......as 'oil money' is dirty and a number as high as 115 cannot equate to any other outcome.

The media have done a proper no smoke without fire job on us,and it has been lapped up by halfwits everywhere.

united's losses were £230m over a 3 year period. The allowable losses were £105m.

The narrative that it was 'minor' was set by united and regurgitated by the press.
