PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I’ve said this a few times. If the PL had won then Ziegler would have been tweeting like fuck.

City will know how this has gone, it may not be the official verdict but I struggle to believe City haven’t had some form of indication or something isn’t going on in the background.

There’s zero chance Maresca joins a club that is imminently going to be relegated either (as well as other new signings or extensions).
You would also like to think it will be out before the fixtures are released.
(We aren't getting relegated but the red mardarses and their one braincell will be thinking we won't be in next seasons fixtures as we are going to the conference league)
Will be another soft signal when the fixtures are released. Surely if the Premier League include us then you know we aren't getting done on any charges.

Doubt the fixtures will give away much.

The TV dates are more relevant and they don't get announced till later on.

Was thinking the same how can they remember something that was said over 12 months ago. I cant remember what I had for tea last Thursday
I think you've struck on something here.

They're probably sitting around a table saying "Was it that guy who was Etihad CEO who said they paid all the money?"
"I'm not sure. Maybe it was the Abu Dhabi Tourist Authority chap?"
"And did they say they'd invoiced City or they hadn't?"
"I'm struggling to remember mate".
"Does anyone have a clue what happened FFS?"
"Not really. I struggle to remember what I had for tea last Thursday".

The documents would have been reviewed before and during the hearing. The panel are supposed to publish a verdict at the end of, or as soon as possible after the end of, the hearing. They won't still be sitting there ploughing through the evidence trying to make their minds up.

One thought occurred to me earlier. Stefan's assertion is that nothing has been communicated to the club, either formally or informally. If so, what's the club's reaction? Do they just sit there and meekly accept it'll come when it comes, without any communication with the PL or Murray Rosen? Or is there a constant to-and-fro between the parties, with City getting more and more agitated and demanding an outcome, or a timeline for one? Is Simon Cliff on the phone to Rosen every day?

If the club are as confident as they appear to be, they probably don't care about chasing up on a decision. It's not impacting us commercially or reputationally (in terms of anything that actually matters like attracting sponsors/managers/players).

For me the time this has taken can't be justified. The hearing will only have taken place once the panel had reviewed evidence and sought clarifications or a statement of common ground. There will have been an agenda focussed on ensuring the right questions were asked.

Post-hearing it would have been a case of the panel meeting to discuss their verdict and then issuing a decision.

The delay, in my opinion, can only be because of the potential far-reaching consequences of either verdict. I don't know procedurally whether the panel remains under instruction from the PL i.e can be told to pause or hold fire.

You would expect City have gone in fully loaded with ammunition to attack those that have brought these charges, which would include some incredibly concerning manipulation of the PL by certain people and certain clubs. Once the verdict is published, even if names are redacted, it's going to be incredibly damaging. Possibly to the point that the PL are trying to negotiate outside of the charges to make this all go away...

That all feels far-fetched, but the delay just doesn't make sense otherwise.

No need to worry, "LagosGunner4Life" on Twitter will surely remind them if needed.

Last summer, it was mentioned by those in the profession that it was quite normal for lawyers to be on summer holidays for at least the full month of August, if not longer. So the panel are likely to be winding down for summer now after grafting all year. Maybe a decision will be published early next year?
Who do they think they are? Teachers?
Lazy cunts

I’m disappointed in our fans.

I would have thought 1 of them would have done a drop down daily ticker banner until the decision was announced.

Missed opportunity.

I think the Independent Football Regulator should review this case. It is outrageous that it is still hanging over our heads, and the delay in the judgement calls into question the process. The delay suggests that the Premier League is not competent to review this matter.
Don’t shout too loudly, their incompetence is a bonus for us in this situation.

A competent league would have left it after CAS or at the very least brought it to under 10 charges and a private settlement.

Carry on dastardly dick -:)

11 working days until WC kicks off. It won't drop on a weekend.

I do think the panel wisely using the huge gaffe that nobody put a strict timeline on this and their hourly rate is now being billed for months later still

Like a work project they give you to complete as long as it's taking you with no deadline and you just take 1.5 years even if you could have finished in 6 weeks given one of the points in The contract is nobody can hurry you or even ask to hurry up.
With knowledge of such practices, I assume you work in the public sector?... ;-)

Has any club ever gone from non league to the premier?

City has broken every football record available in England, maybe we should think about it? Pep has always been interested in lower leagues.

So verdict out on 2/3 seasons and pep is back for the enterprise rent a car league, you will never sing that!

There’s zero chance Maresca joins a club that is imminently going to be relegated either (as well as other new signings or extensions).

That’s the killer for me. The first thing any players agent is going to ask about is the situation regarding the PL investigation. Unless there’s a pile of get out clauses inserted into the contracts of everyone who’s signed or renewed since the charges were announced then the club have clearly been able to convey their confidence in the outcome to those players. Same with Maresca, he spent time at the academy and as Pep’s assistant, I really can’t see why he, and a team of his assistants, would have agreed to join a club that is guaranteed to be relegated and forever tainted as cheats.

Even if the verdict was given and we were found guilty we wouldn't be instantly relegated. Even 27/28 would be pushing it
