Possible new stadium - some interesting information

CoMS currently generates less than £1m on a matchday whereas the swamp generates something like £3.25m.

Besides capacity, the reason the swamp generates so much more is that they have something like 15,000 corporate seats whereas I think we have about 2,000. So any increase in capacity up to 60,000 would be mainly corporate.

If we could generate £2.5m a match (and let's assume that includes CL games), this could bring in an extra £40m a season.

I didn't realise that Utd had 15k Corporate seats. That's an amazing figure.

Are we going to be able to compete with MUFC when they are reportedly seeing marked falls in their corporate attendances? They are not going to go away. Strikes me that Corporates generate a lot of income, and have no real loyalty, but that market will be pretty much fixed.

They have 45,000 S/T holders, 15,000 corporate seats, 3,000 for away fans and about 10,000 seats on general sale.

Many corporates are not diehard fans and use the facilities for entertaining clients. I know one big international company that has corporate facilities at pretty much every Premiership ground.

The rags have suffered in that market, partly because of the credit crunch but partly because their prices are too high. If you pitch it right, many would take up the package in preference to Old Trafford.

If you got an average £150 for each corporate seat, that's nearly £2m a game. We also have about 34,000 S/T holders so we're not that far short of being able to match them.

i've been with him to both, but only once
city's is much better by all accounts and cheaper
united get more going because of the 'prestige' but if city were to be at the top table and in the champions league things could soon change

I have been entertained in the corporate side at OT about a dozen times going back about as many years.

As a guest I was significantly underwhelmed by the food and the atmos' and if truth be told felt like I was a a member of a herd with no personal attention whatsoever.

I hope they get the feel of the old City directors suite at COMS (which i attended for about 2 seasons non-stop) which was cosy and somewhat more exclusive.

I also know from people who still entertain there clients at OT that the offers of reduced prices and additional places are commonplace so they seem to be down about 15% on last year.

At least 2 companies I know directors of are not doing any corporate entertaining at OT at all beacause that no longer 'sells them' to clients. ONe mate says they are looking for more sizzle and less sausage.

Note the end of the roof. In essence proving the North Stand roof can be dismantled without it affecting the other sections of the roof. In theory the roof can be taken down, the upper tier can be taken apart and the lower tier can be extended to create a Kop style 25,000 seater stand, with a new roof section being added to the remaining one. That's if the North Stand and the capacity of COMS are going to be increased that way? And that's the big if.

Where do we play whilst the building work takes place? Or is the intention to play Champions League (hopefully) games with part of the Stadium looking like a building site? I can't see it myself for an extra 13,000 seats. I reckon they'll end up building a new one.

that's what I'm thinking, as well as the fact that COMS looked shit before it became a footy stadium.

he has a history and pedigree and desire to produce some of the worlds most iconisc building.

do you really think we will just stick on a few extra seats whilst the rest of the surrounding area is being made to look like Buck rodgers in the 25th century?

we are gonna get a new stadium , its going to be huge and its going to be iconic and amazing and its going to make old trafford look like my back shed!!
