Queen Elizabeth II

Q to see her is now over four miles long , we are not a republic it seems
That leaves 99% of us with more sense than to join The Queue. If I'd been staying with my relatives in Edinburgh (half a mile from the airport road) I'd have popped down to see her go past but nine hours in a queue to see a flag...

I did go the Etihad to see Malcolm Allison's cortege go by.

Interesting (well, depressing!) fact about the queue. If you add together everyone expected to go through it, it’ll still only be 5% of the current NHS waiting list.

That's arguable.
It’s not, just over 70 years earlier Buckingham Palace was opened than the US declared Independence as a sovereign nation.

Not a pop at our American friends, I generally love America and their people but it’s historical fact.

Where the TV will be broadcasting the funeral?

I'm not an alcoholic and rarely drink tbh.
Plenty of boozers with TVs and plenty without.

I’m not an alcoholic but drink regularly and I was actually kidding.

In all seriousness, a day off with everything shut is better than you going to work, no?

Probably referring to this.

Buckingham Palace became the London residence of the British monarch on the accession of Queen Victoria in 1837.

the name "Buckingham-palace" was used from at least 1791.

Well only slightly. It means I don't have to do something as cover for a colleague that will be rearranged. I work from home most days anyway.

A day off when I can't use the subscriptions I already have and where plenty of other stuff is already shut. But meh isn't it.
