There’s some strange mental gymnastics on here trying to excuse the ref’s cheating : he thought he was offside, he didn’t see his run and thought we hadn’t taken advantage of playing on, pmsl

I do want Webb and Owen do an explanation for this scene as it doesnt make any sense.

I really don't see an alternative explanation. The referee initially made the correct decision (play advantage). Then he decided to stop play when he saw we had a goalscoring opportunity. This is the exact opposite of what it says in his rule book.

In addition, there is very little talk of bribery. Corruption comes in subtle ways, for example, the PL talking of having a new winner every x number of years. The PL might say they think a team winning four consecutive titles is bad for the game. Once that gets back out to the referees, they know they can act with impunity in certain scenarios.

There is also the possibility that Webb might not be acting with complete integrity.

Ref fucks up, oh well he must be corrupt. Grow up.

Season before last rodri got away with a very very blatant hand ball v everton. Remember?
Cost liverpool the title that decision. Was that corrupt too?

If that's the case, would it not be nice to see him actually apologising to the players on the pitch, and admit he got it wrong?

Sick of the lack of accountability, it would be refreshing to see a bit of ownership.

Moaning about the Ref FFS, Grealish given his lack of pace had a lot to do. Fact is that we have been poor all season with a hangover from winning a treble, selling key players, injuries to key players and a very poor transfer window .
There is a reason why it is difficult to win the prem 3 times on the bounce (which we did), let alone 4 times!
