Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

I’m reluctant to go down the ref conspiracy black hole but nothing at all about that decision makes any sense whatsoever.

If the scouse twats got the audio released for the shit reffing against them, we need to know what went in today too because it was baffling and inexcusable.

I don't typically join in with the conspiracy theory nutjobs but that decision today has no valid explanation other than corruption. The refs routinely make shit calls but they do so knowing they can hide behind subjective views or if the worst comes to the worst they can just claim "human error" and you can't really argue with it.

You can't do any of that with that decision though. Pep should have took the fine and made a lot of noise about it to make sure it doesn't get swept under the rug. It needs explaining because even the apologist pundits that want city to fail couldn't muster up a semi-viable explanation for it in their defence.

I'm really not into the "everybody is out to get city" narrative but in my eyes that's a deliberate attempt at tampering with the result.

Do people think they’re corrupt against Arsenal and Liverpool too? Not sure how it would make sense if the reason for the error today is corruption against us to stop us winning the league when they’ve also given very dubious decisions against our rivals. What have Wolves done too, for example?

It’s just a very very bad bit of refereeing. Thats it. The worrying thing is it’s not the worst I’ve seen this year. Not sure how people can say it isn’t incompetence having seen some of the other decisions given so far in general. They’re making huge errors multiple times a week right now.

1 point more should have had v Wolves, goal scorer should have had a second yellow
2 points more v LFC not a foul on Allison
Possibly 2 more today if Jack had scored second

So 5 robbed by the officials

This is hard to explain as a mistake

Most of the others you mention were subjective

The LFC was a clear mistake caused by poor communication protocol

I'm right on board with you there with conspiracies.Today's incident seems a bit different to the usual shit standard of refereeing though. seemed to be more to it than sheer incompetence.

we were on the wrong end of it but I'm not saying it's neccesarily about screwing us. There's just something very suspect about it, incompetence would be not allowing the advantage, there's no valid explanation for allowing the advantage then 2 seconds later blowing the whistle. The only reason to blow at that moment is if there's no advantage, I'd say grealish being put through 1v1 is a pretty big advantage. There's nothing subjective in the incident, nothing debatable, he's just stopped a goal scoring opportunity for no reason.

Giving us the freekick is somehow worse than inexplicably awarding them a freekick. At least he would then be able to claim he saw an offence of some kind

I'd be expecting a rather thorough investigation into his activities after that.

I agree completely with that, just got a feeling he knew the minute he blew the whistle he seriously fucked up. I think he thought the pass was over hit or the chance wasn’t as good as it was and blew too quickly due to the time left in the game.

It was a huge fuck up, I just think he’ll know that better than any of us do and although it makes no difference to any of us, he’ll be feeling as shit about that decision, if not more, as anyone.

I know it wasn’t hooper’s

he took great joy in booking Erling for his duck up

He also applied the laws differently depending upon colour of shirt as alluded to frequently in this thread
