Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

We are City, we won the treble even if many prem teams had the cheating refs in their pocket! We must be almost perfect with our goals don’t give the refs any chance to rule the goals out. Don’t commit any fouls or it gives them a chance to book our players ( saying that the opponents will almost certainly get away with the same foul) This also includes foul throws! we are the only team to commit these accordingly to the refs actions???
We are City

Just remembered, what happened in the first half when ref stopped played on the edge of their box and gave them a free kick, played stopped for what seemed like a couple of minutes but nobody seemed to know why. Was it a VAR check?

They were looking at a possible red card on Silva I think he pushed a Brighton player with both hands on his chest, Brighton player fell like he'd been shot!

It was Alvarez. And March had pushed Alvarez to the floor during the counter just a few seconds earlier.

Alvarez had a bit of handbags with a Brighton player.

I enjoy people having different opinions but I get the impression that a ref could trip Haaland when through on goal and you would still say ‘it’s just one of those things.’

You post a lot of decent stuff (outwith your staunch defence of referees being a bit shit and incompetent with some performances being suspect beyond that level) so I won’t be popping you on ignore just yet mate.

I see similar things with how certain teams in England get reffed to the way the Old Firm get treated in Scotland. Refs feel more pressure when dealing with those teams whether that’s reputations, pressure from the fans, media etc but it does have an impact in my opinion.

The Konate and Akanji outcomes yesterday. It could have been the other way around but in the history of my watching of games what unfolded is what happens more of the time not less.

I’ve never seen another goal like the offside debacle at OT last season in 44 years of watching football.

I’ve never seen another penalty given in the circumstances that Ederson did at the Emirates last season.

Too many of these things happen for me not to be irked by it. What is great though is that our wonderful Blue Boys, take it, absorb it and keep on winning games and trophies.
I don’t disagree with much of that, especially the OT offside.

The Konate/Skanji/Young second yellow card debate was obviously bringing the “consistency” of referees into focus. We could add Kovacic at Arsenal and maybe even Rodri against Liverpool last season.
Sometimes decisions can go either way. Had the Konate and Akanji incidrnts happened in the same match and were reffed by the same official, I’d be 100% calling out inconsistencies. They weren’t, so they aren‘t directly comparible, although I’d have probably sent Konate off had I been the ref.

I try to call decisions as fairly as I can. If Haaland was clean through and I thought he was fouled, I’d definitely be screaming in the stadium. Like when he was fouled early doors against Forest (I think) and he might have been clean through.

I don’t try to post to antagonise, despite what my “haters” would suggest.

Obviously, I’ve posTed too much in here today and I need to stop, but I wanted to reply properly to your well thought out post.

Refs make mistakes. They always will. If they don’t destroy the game, I tend to forget about them. I don’t feel the need to store up decisions made to use as evidence in the future.

Anyway, apologies for clogging up the thread. I’ll leave it be now unless anyone posts something that asks me to respond.

Fair comment mate.

In the play beforehand I saw a Brighton player swing at Julians face (and they had some verbals after), I thought it was for that but the screen showed the Brighton box for some reason?

Just watched the game again. You miss a lot when you attend. Anyway Mitoma twice kicked the ball away. The first time in the first 10 minutes after we were awarded a throw or free kick near the touch line he kicked it behind the goal line. The 2nd in extra time he kicked it into touch after the game had stopped. So now, I presume it is only an offence when a player, a City player, does it in the middle part of a game. But just as bad was the foul given against Foden at the end that was diabolical yesterday and still is today.
Going to blood pressure thread to see what counts as dangerous levels;-)
