He’s right when it comes to referees in City games!I've actually met one in the flesh. Told me I wasn't capable of critical thinking.

We will see how long they last. I wasn't saying they collapse immediately without faith, only that their ability to endure long term is in doubt. The Scandinavians might take umbrage at that claim.
It must have been a tidy hike to get on the boat for a hamster or a beetle...To be fair, some of them marched in sevens. Must have been a big fucking boat. The thing I love about creationists is that they spend so much time trashing science when it contradicts something in their holy book, but the second there's some proper scientific evidence that even hints that part of it might be true, they're all over it. For example, there's a certain amount of geological evidence for a large flooding event in the Middle East that could have explained the Noah myth. Creationists are all over this. But when the same field present evidence for the age of the earth or the survival of fossils, they don't want to hear it.

That doesn't sound creepy in the slightest. "See how long they last".We will see how long they last. I wasn't saying they collapse immediately without faith, only that their ability to endure long term is in doubt.
I remember reading about an Aboriginal creation myth that was exactly what you'd expect from a group of people who travelled through Indonesia and across the sea to get to Australia. I think most myths will have a basis in historical events of one sort or another.I thought the Noah myth (like most of the abrahamic religions guff) was just nicked from earlier myths across the ancient world and is originally the story of the great china flood that were brought over by merchants and tied into the great samarian flood of around 2000BC.
If you really study religions or belief systems older than the main religions of today, you find nearly all the creation, disaster and saviour/messiah stories are the same but adjusted to fit each society.
I mean the visit of gabriel to the pregnant mary is lifted directly from the story of Siddhartha Gautama
Hes a ****. The type of dangerous, deluded **** that makes people hate religion. That doesn't sound creepy in the slightest. "See how long they last".
What, are you praying for their downfall so your misguided view is proven correct or something? The Scandinavians are going from strength to strength, their social and economic models are admirable and faith has had zero influence on its success.
It must pain you to see people succeeding having rejected God, mustn't it.
I'm fully expecting a "they'll get theirs on judgement day" sort of response.Hes a ****. The type of dangerous, deluded **** that makes people hate religion.
As you admitted on another thread you like calling others cunts - so, let’s be honest, it’s got nothing to do with what the guy wrote. Just an excuse for you to be abusive.Hes a ****. The type of dangerous, deluded **** that makes people hate religion.

edit: from the Janes Mcatee thread. And I noticed it as it didn’t come across as great there either
“Fuck me, most of us spend the majority of our lives being serious in our day to day lives to put food on the table and pay bills. I like the escapism that comes with football and part of that is calling anybody who plays for utd a ****. Even if they aren't.”
Everything to do with what he wrote. Dangerous thinking leads me to think he’s a ****.As you admitted on another thread you like calling others cunts - so, let’s be honest, it’s got nothing to do with what the guy wrote. Just an excuse for you to be abusive.

That is, in fairness, a very generous interpretation of what he wrote. Good on you :)You must realise **** can be used for abusive comentary, but also in some context a term of endearment or just general word used.
Calling united players **** is not abuse as it's true.
Saying he's a **** on a forum thread where someone is wishing societies to fail for being godless is pretty accurate and mild tbf
Dangerous for whom? Anyhow, it brought a question to mind that I hadn’t considered before. Whether religión, at heart, is an invitation to open to that which is beyond tribal boundaries but, when in the hands of the closed mind, it can be that which reinforces tribalism even more (albeit perhaps in a different guise). So, cheers for that. Have a good day.Everything to do with what he wrote. Dangerous thinking leads me to think he’s a ****.
See, I have always taken that to essentially be a message to the poor "stay poor, it will make you righteous". When this is a message being given to the poor by those holding power and money, you start to see the point of the texts. Keep the masses in line, don't stray above your station, you will receive your reward in the afterlife. With respect, but that sounds like horseshit to me.Just to add, there is a beatitude that is often translated as ‘blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth’ which, from the Aramaic, might be translated more like ‘blessed are the humble for they shall receive the earth.’ Maybe we could extend that to saying that as one lets go of arrogance, one becomes more open to receive the gifts of Mother Nature. And if She is truly beautiful, then maybe that’s not such a bad thing
Can understand if that is how it is interpreted and/or used, then indeed it wouldn’t be so great. On a practical level it can be a way to come to feel more empowered here and now. Like learning to relax downwards, to rise up. Not to oppress others. But each are free to choose to see it as they want. And I don’t call myself a Christian. Or go to a church.See, I have always taken that to essentially be a message to the poor "stay poor, it will make you righteous". To me that sums up the Catholic Church. Birth control is a sin.See, I have always taken that to essentially be a message to the poor "stay poor, it will make you righteous".
