Because he is better.

Statistically Tevez and Dzeko are better than RVP. Not saying they are better players right now, but I'm not convinced that Van Persie's one season goal glut automatically makes him better than those two either. It's very hard to judge and I believe sometimes it's better the devil you know.

Remember not to believe the media or fans of any other team mate.

Edin will go mate, once Rvp joins edin will leave with our blessing. As has been mentioned rvp wants trophies! He already earns a huge amount in real life terms and can afford anything he wants! He wants honours and we can give him that chance.

You say not to believe other people, then you make a speculative comment!
I mentioned weeks ago that I'd heard that rvp wanted us and talks between Rvp agents and ourselves had taken place. Even his agent admitted that he'd been to the etihad for a meeting with us! My uncle does insurance work for a couple of tha arsenal board members and when they go out drinking together loose tongues start talking and obviously being a city fan he asks about stuff and let's me know. Throughout the whole nasri transfer I said it would happen and it got held back purely because of wenger. Do u remember the pics that he was putting up on his twitter? Meeting paddy and constantly talking to nasri etc? And his tweets normally have deeeecent in them now?! Coincidence??
Feelers may well have been put out but thats a long way from a transfer.

Every Summer Vieira was leaving Arsenal and was in discussion with foreign clubs but it never happened

The bit I don't get is that most on here are claiming that RvP will be brought in as a replacement for Dzeko.

So RvP is going to be our new 4th. choice striker is he?

If RvP comes (and personally I do think he will end up here) he's coming to replace Tevez and Balotelli as Aguero's partner.

This means Balotelli will likely be our new 4th. choice striker... and that's a good idea?

And even if the sales of Adebayor/RSC/Teve/Dzeko are going to determine whether or not we pursue RvP... what has this to do with our other transfer targets in midfield and at the back? Surely they are separete issues? So why are we holding back on the other potential deals?

Like I said at the start of the transfer window, I think we could go again with what we've got. And if it means consigning Adebayor and RSC to the Carling Cup campaign then so be it.

Arsenal, Chelsea and the rags signings have still not made them better than us.

Fair point. It will definitely be hard to keep everyone happy if he comes in place of Dzeko. It could be more harmful than good, as players need steady runs of games to gain form also, so If Mancini starts tinkering too much in order to keep people happy it could be to the detriment of the team. My head is in a bloody tizzy over this whole RVP debacle. I wish it would end soon. RVP or no RVP, we definitely need a top class midfielder to partner Yaya. As people have said De Rossi would be fucking ideal. Barry is a good first teamer at this stage, but his legs are going and he will not be enough in the big games imo.

No cover for Kompany? No cover for Yaya? Passing on the chance to sign a superb striker like RVP? You're right that we could go for it and hope for no injuries to our key men (Kompany, Yaya and Aguero), but I don't see why we should.

Just thought I'd remind everyone of this

These guys are reporting that we've made a bid for RVP.

I doubt they're reliable at all but it was tweeted by an Arsenal fan who is known as one of their ITK's.

No cover for Kompany? Kolo, Savic and Richards spring to mind, with Rekik for the Carling Cup games. Yaya? I do think we need to prioritise a midfielder, but even so we still have de Jong and Milner in reserve. And Razak, Suarez for the Carling Cup.

We are not down to bare bones. Chill.

I'm chilled mate, but if I were the manager charged with defending the title and having a serious attempt at the Champions League, I'd want better cover for Kompany than Kolo or Savic, and better cover for Yaya than Milner or De Jong (Martinez would be perfect because he'd kill two birds with one stone). I'd also want to sign a top striker like RVP should he be available, and I'd be prepared to sacrifice Dzeko to get him. Standing still is rarely a wise option if you're sights are set high.

You might not rate the players I've mentioned but clearly the manager does. And I'd go with that at the moment.

And you don't mind Balotelli becoming our 4th. choice striker? You are getting spoiled mate!

I'm sure we will strengthen, I just don't understand the panic on here with it all.
