I guess it depends what other fitness activities you are involved in and how much time you have available.
Personally, I'm retired so time isn't an issue. My current routine is 3 swims a week, 2 runs a week and 2 recovery days. I prioritise the swimming as it gives me better results in terms of weight loss, and in summer it's not time dependent (i.e. no need to avoid excessive temperatures).
For my runs, I use no tech, and just run at a comfortable pace and try to enjoy it. I love using all my senses so don't use headphones, but like to take in all the sights, sounds and smells of nature and the changing of the seasons.
When it's cool enough, I factor in a few speed intervals, and I always attempt a sprint finish at Parkruns!
My biggest tip is just to enjoy it, listen to your body, and don't overthink your runs.
