Nasri is much better than people here think and that is why he is picked by Mancini almost always when he is available. He is ideal player for style of football Mancini wants, he barely ever lose the ball.

He wasn't at his best last night but we're still better team with him on the pitch than opposite.

I don't think he was woeful last night too, he is just a player who's one bad thing is going to be highlighted here each time and good stuff will be forgotten.

I remember people having a go on him in match day thread last night for one bad pass but nobody said nothing when he made fool of Taarabt and sent good cross in the box. There are few of such in our team who'll always get stick here.
Bingo. We were better before he went off. Our shape disintegrated last night after he left. Barry and Milner (both of whom I love) had horrible games. We didn't need two defensive mids. I think we would have been much better off bringing on Sinclair for one of them and Dzeko for Tevez.
I agree with all of this.

At least some sensible people still exist. Some people just blatantly disregard Nasri as doing anything worthwhile whatsoever which is so confusing to me, because we so CLEARLY play better and are more organized and functional with him on the field.

I didn't think he was phenomenal last game or anything, but he is the only player with a lot of technical ability on our team that is willing to play a particular role. He stays in position away from the other 3 to keep things open. When he gets the ball he always looks for the pass with the most purpose, either the one that will keep us the ball or the one that will give the next player the most space.

Silva definitely creates more directly, but he also forces the ball and gives it away over and over again. Nasri has to compensate for that by being a smart, assured creative player. Why can't people see how much he helps us dominate possession, and how important that is in NOT conceding goals? Also, Nasri gets back WAY more than Silva, Tevez, or Aguero. Silva will give it away and then start walking back, and Nasri will run from flank to flank helping each fullback.

If you all saw him playing for another team you would see what we were missing without him.

Are we hating on Nasri now that Mario's gone?

Many are and won't stop now.

Rightly so not the player we were expecting to get. The biggest disappointment at the club at the moment.

I disagree. The biggest disappointments at the club at the mo are Carlos, Edin, and Sergio (not enough goals), Scott Sinclair (not enough talent) but biggest disappointment of all, the 'fans' who seem obsessed with hounding players out of the place.

He was pretty poor for most of last season but I thought it would just take a season for him to settle in but if anything he has regressed, just doesn't seem to have any effect on games especially away from home. Maybe its due to playing outwide but he played behind the strikers in the Liverpool away game and had a shocker.

David Silva has been pretty poor for most of this season, but he's coming good (eventually). Samir is more reliable when it comes to the defensive role.

If he wasn't at City, you'd be wondering why we weren't after him.

Re: Nasri

so what if he has a brilliant game now? what will you saddos do?

why do i waste my time on the 'internet'..................

Re: Nasri

If we have a player who doesn't run around like a headless chicken, fly into last ditch tackles. They are shite.

Our game is about ball retention and patience and Nasri is the best player club who does this

^^^^This is 100% correct.^^^^
yeh, but we need to be breaking through defenses. So many games where we have all possession and can't turn it into chances/goals because Silva is the only one playing penetrating passes. I think Nasri is good, just not what people want, or maybe what we need atm.

Literally the stupidest thing I have ever read on blue moon.

Fuck me. I can hardly believe I've just read it, and its comedy follow up about silva's current form.

I'm logging off. This place has been taken over by fucking imbeciles.

Which part of that says he is the best player at the club. I said he is the player who does not give the ball away ie he is the best player who retains possession at the club. Please feel free to jump out of the window yourself, you might bang your head and eventually post some sense but I for one won't be holding my breath.

-- Thu Jan 31, 2013 10:50 pm --

im glad you are not suggesting that he is our best player - one of our worst in fact if you are talking about contribution over the last year and half.

Ball retention means fuck all, half of those passes are probably 5 yard passes to Lescott or Kompany that subsequently got hoofed out of play. He simply is not good enough and I would love to see the back of him

Do the stats say he is the best at ball retention out of interest.

Out of the midfielders, yes.

Nasri - 92%

Yaya Toure - 89%

David Silva - 86%

Carlos Tevez - 85%

James Milner - 78%
