Assuming sell-on fee is the usual 30%, and since the Swans want the whole £5mil fee, City would have to pay around £7.143mil to achieve this..In effect, we are giving £2.143mil to Chelsea for this transfer.

or in effect Sunderland will be giving the dosh to Chelski

Obviously that, I purposely used the wording, "In effect" to signify how the transfer money would be split..

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup admitted winger Scott Sinclair was not in the right frame of mind to play in Saturday's 3-0 home win against West Ham.

Sinclair, 23, has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League champions Manchester City after refusing to sign a new contract at the Liberty Stadium.

He was left out of manager Laudrup's matchday squad against the Hammers, despite scoring when he came on as a substitute in the Swans' opening-day win at QPR.

But he was not missed as the South Wales club claimed their second win of the new season after goals from Angel Rangel, Michu and Danny Graham.

The Danish boss is unsure whether Sinclair will remain a Swansea player ahead of Friday's transfer deadline, but says he cannot wait for the window to close.

"Last week there was no problem, but in the last two or three days there have been a lot of things going around him," Laudrup told Sky Sports.

"Scott and I spoke on Friday and both agreed 100 per cent that this weekend he should stay out of the squad.

"We will see what happens next weekend - if he stays he's back. If he leaves then we will have to take it from there."

On the chances of keeping Sinclair, he added: "I really don't know. What I do know going into the last week of the transfer deadline is I'm happy Friday is closer."

Why would anyone pay for Ade or RSC in July, when they can pay for them in late August saving 6 weeks or so's wages ?

Fair point but I think that whatever deal is done for say RSC (I bet he goes for free) could have been done in July freeing up funds to buy...just as Bob himself said. Plenty of clubs buy early in the transfer window when there isn't so much of a bidding war or panic.

Again though why would anyone want to pay his wages in July ? If City wanted rid of him so much, then they should have just paid his contract off. I never wanted the fella as I thought he'd be useless, but its not his fault we signed him on that contract, and there is no reason he should just give it up easily.

So they can play at the start of the campaign

But by missing a couple of games you still get them, usually at a knock down price, and you don't pay them until September.

Anyway this thread is about Sinclair, not the waste of space and money that has been RSC's City career.

very underwhelmed with this transfer as he is average and nothing more, let's hope the transfer window sees players brought in who are top 4 material and not mid-table.

'Average' is happy to be a part of the squad and contribute when required.
I do however believe you do him an injustice,he's lightening quick, strong and athletic, has an eye for goal and is capable of adaptability while being professional and ambitious and young enough to greatly improve.

At 6m(ish) we have a bargain

Agreed mate, he may not be quite as skillful as AJ in the final third, but where SS beats him 'hands down' is that he has a very could engine and stamina and can get up and down the flanks to attack and defend, something AJ could never do, so, even playing 4-4-2 or 3-5-2, Sinclair can slot right in when required.
