This is where fans are partly to blame, we’re all too willing to accept a small increase every year because it’s not as drastic as we first feared, but they soon add up. And if it’s so insignificant then when do city feel the need to do it in the first place?
There’s not much we can do as fans as there will always be others willing to take your seat when it gets too expensive but one thing we can do is condemn the constant price hikes and make some noise about it rather than trying to defend the club because our neighbours still have higher prices.
Football in this country costs way too much, it’s ripping the soul out of the game, it’s going to continue to rise and rise until one club takes the bold stance of recognising the greed and taking prices down to something near equal to what we see in the likes of the bundesliga.
Our club is in a strong position to be able to be that club to take the first step and force others to follow but sadly they don’t seem even remotely interested in doing so despite the constant claims by the club of wanting to keep and protect that core local support.
At the end of the day, I’ll pay what I have to, I’ve had a seasonticket all my life and have no intention of giving it up, I’ll find the money from somewhere whatever the cost but I won’t be one of these that are throwing false praise at the club. they have continually increased prices year on year, there’s nothing praiseworthy about that and I hope it’s given the negative press it deserves.
