Sergio's Offside, factually definitive or interpretive ?

As I said, I call bullshit on that, unless you have no emotion at all.

I've been like that for three years at least, I did it last night, linesman indicated goal, referee indicated goal.

Emotion.
Your rational mind will control your emotion now you know that somewhere some VAR referee is reviewing the goal and could at any second instigate a VAR goal check. The glance at the linesman is now no longer enough, and when you know that, you may adjust your behaviour accordingly.

People are rational. Crowd behaviours will change a bit. The mass will celebrate it, some cautious people will wait until it's safe and then celebrate. It's not lack of emotion at all. I've cried plenty of tears of joy and pain in my City supporting life and to this day are totally gutted if we lose. My friends and family know not to speak to me if City lose.

It won't, and if it ever does I'll be giving football up.

I enjoyed (went mental, pretty much like the agueroooooo goal) our "5th" goal last night very much, the final outcome was obviously very disappointing, but I'll still remember enjoying it, and if ever that goes away, football is done for me.

Me too. I was celebrating too. But I was also waiting and worried, hang on a minute, hang on a minute and given the collective experience of 50,000 fans I don think we will change a little

I don't think our opinions differ too much on this

The original offside rule was simple amd worked for decades.

All this arsing aroimd with it the last 20 years and changimg the rules every other season has made it ridiculous.

Offsid wshould be simple
When the ball is played if any player is in an offside positin it's offside
No intefering with play bollocks
No is onside but ran g back from an offside postion.
No toe, elbow or hand marginals, full body is offside amuthinh else is benefit to stricker.

As it was once before and was not a problem in the first place.

I genuinely haven’t watched it. As I was coming out of the ground at full-time on Wednesday I went to watch it on one of the screens in EL3, and my mate said “what the fuck are you doing? It’s gone” I immediately realised he was right and I walked straight out and still haven’t sought it out to view it - and I’ve managed to avoid it, so far.

There’s still so much to look forward to. I refuse to let the other night ruin my season. This still could be an amazing four weeks.

If I can avoid it in the meantime, I’ll watch it over the summer.

Only the player who immediately becomes part of the play should be called offside. I agree that of all the laws of the game that apply whilst the game runs, the offside law was the simplest. It was what I used to call the 'pregnant' law. Yer either pregnant or yer not. Yer either offside or yer not. What used to happen though, in days gone, was that an injured player lying prostrate would be flagged offside and given! All those players not immediately part of the play and some distance away should not be called off. A fuckin' satellite, a satnav, could tell yer where the ball and the players were! Why don't we have summat like that? I can only think that it might provide outcomes which the governing body would prefer not to happen!!

It was offside but it's definitely a hard one to take as it was in the most marginal and unfortunate of circumstances.

The one aspect I find most open to interpretation however is was it "clear and obvious". Should VAR have even been used in the first place?

Do they check every possible offside decision then??

Because in normal play the linesman doesn’t flag and play goes on. Someone might score 2 minutes later but play still went on and a potential offside may have affected play.

In this instance, the linesman didn’t flag and indicated for a goal scored. Surely then, he couldn’t notice the offside so it’s not clear and obvious so wouldn’t in theory be checked. Also how far do we now look back and try and assess a decision affecting goal scoring play??

What stinks even more than the referee only viewing the handball decision from one angle, is that no actual official on ground level came to that decision. They just blindly say yeah alright then.
