here you go northstander Late change for Vodacom opener 11/06/2009 15:10
The club has today been informed of a late change to the venue for its opening match in next month's Vodacom Challenge in South Africa.
The game against the Orlando Pirates on Saturday 18th July, originally scheduled for the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town, will now be staged at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo Province north of Johannesburg.
Western Cape Provincial Government sponsorship was up for renewal and could not be agreed. The promoter then decided on a switch to Limpopo Province, which has a huge supporter-base but has been starved of top-class football in recent years.
The full match schedule is now confirmed as: City v Orlando Pirates at Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane on Saturday 18th July, 3pm; City v Kaizer Chiefs at ASBA Stadium, Durban on Tuesday 21st July, 8pm; City v winners of Pirates v Chiefs at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Pretoria on Saturday 25th July, 3pm.
Supporters who have already confirmed travel arrangements which will be affected by this change in venue are strongly advised to contact MCFC Supporter Services immediately by email to
supporterservices@mcfc.co.uk or by calling 0870 062 1894 (option 2 then 1) during office hours.
The club apologises for any inconvenience this may cause, and assures supporters that those who have already made arrangements affected by the change of venue from Cape Town to Polokwane will not be left out of pocket.
Tickets for each of the matches will be available to purchase from the Box Office at the City of Manchester Stadium in the coming weeks. On-sale dates and prices will be confirmed once available.
