Spurs (H) - Post-Match Thread

Spurs defended like their lives depended on it and had the quality up front to punish our bollocks. Kane and Son would walk into our team they are that good.
Book 7th of May in your diary when they play the dippers. Son will barely touch the ball and you wont realise Kane is playing til he is subbed. They only seem to be world class when they play us

I took a day to cool off and I’m still steaming with that performance, I could spit nails. Always have to do things the hard way. 2+ goal difference, so expecting the worst on Wednesday with Leeds.

Spurs…. Really? Unbelievable…

Leeds losing after 2-2 really irritates me too.
One of the worst weekends results wise…

If I'm going to write anything I always try to wait until the day after, things generally look slightly different when the emotion isn't there. I can't really complain too much about our team selection and I thought, while we weren't at our best, we actually played some decent stuff....going forward. Our defence, however, had a collective day to forget. We seemed wide open on the flanks and didn't pick up a late running Kane twice for his goals. A little bemused that Sterling got hooked as there were others who I thought were well below par. Gundogan played well though. Thought Spurs were set up very well to do exactly what they did...although we gave them a helping hand....and I guess Utd and Liverpool will try to play the same way. So we'd better learn from this. Yeah pissed off at the result and hopefully it focuses a few minds. Still twists and turns to come and it's still in our hands....which I guess I would take at this point in the season. I've no desire to read the previous 135 or 136 pages.....we will lose games, it happens, just keep your trust in this team and manager to go and put it right.
It happened against Leicester last season. It was disappointing yesterday but hardly the end of the world.

Sorry I quoted this twice. I don't know what happened. Anyway, it looked like the end of the world when City got relegated to the second division but it led to where we are today, the " "brand loyalty" of 30,000 supporters, that encouraged City's owners to buy City. As you say City will put it right. Just as with the disappointing 2-5 against Leicester City will be back stronger as a result.

A good case for fielding a non-midget forward, who-ever that may be, or, ffs,
stop with the aerial crosses. The game followed previous mid-week euro cup games, a slightly sub-standard performance. At no stage were we outplayed, spuds exploited our false number two plan, the run-of-the-ball lottery was not kind to City. Both sides misplaced simple passes, we didn't cope well when they made the odd surge from midfield. All seemed a bit below par.
The way to get over it is to remember one of life's lessons. Shit happens.....

Come may we win the league and the three points spurs picked up yesterday knocks the rags out of a top four spot would be so fuckin sweet!

is that why he spent last season as 5th choice?

again, I cannot stress this enough, you are talking about the starting CB for the best defense in europe.

statistically, and by goals conceded, chances conceded, shots conceded, xG conceded, we are by far the best defense in europe.

It's incredible how little nuance people insert into this.

Clearly laprote and cancelo are doing something right if we concede so little.

Most of the defending for our team is done by the midfield and forwards through pressing and keeping the ball.

The defenders job really is to deal with crosses, be switched on if a counter does break through and be good in 1 on 1 duels.

Can talk stats all you want but the eye test on our defence last season is night and day from this year.

Stones and Dias are more than the sum of their parts they have a genuine understanding that can’t be replicated easily and bring each others games up a few levels.

Dias is noticeably worse on the right.

Laporte regularly switches off, doesn’t really put his body on the line and has a lack of pace he has been like this for years.

A few cross field balls out to the right wing don’t make up for that.

Fella thats utter bollox
Really
Son played dippers 12 times scored 3 no assists - link below.
Contrast that with his record against us
I am not saying they are shite just that they take it to another level against us

We average 68 percent possession, Burnley for example average 39 percent. To flip it the opposition have the ball 32 percent against us and (almost twice) 61 percent against Burnley. We have let in 17 goals and Burnley 29. Therefore we let in (17/32) 0.53 goals for every percent the opposition attack us. Burnley only let in (29/61) 0.47. So Burnley have a better defence based on the logic we often have the ball…… or.. it isn’t as simple as stats…..
