Yes that's fair enough but you also have to face the fact that billions are lost to the treasury each year in the UK due to tax avoidance and a large part of the tax avoidance is the cash economy.
And those billions could be spent on things like the national health service or schools or better roads or public transport.
It's the same here I'm building a house at the moment and I'm sick of tradies asking me if I want to pay cash or through the bank. Obviously if I pay cash it doesn't go through the books.
Anyway I don't want to steer the thread away from its purpose by turning it into a sort of political thread, I think I started it I saying it bugs me when people insist I pay in cash when I haven't carried cash for over five years and I don't want to start queuing up in a bank to get cash or using an ATM.
I usually tell them I'm happy to pay a bit extra for the transaction fee like I do with Aldi but they don't want to know.
I really wouldn't trust politicians or town hall officials (Hell any public body) to distribute wealth taken by means of tax, they'll either build a statue commemorating some dead head or give it away to someone abroad to make them feel better.
There have been 2 occasions in the last week where a business hasn't been able to use an electronic transaction, thankfully I carry cash some of it older than it should be.
Below is my latest purchase :)

A Ten Bob note in all of it's glory.
