Sturridge - Chelsea

Amazingly Sturridge, just 19, has never completed 90 minutes of first-team action in senior football,

Are you absolutely sure? If a guy's contract expires, doesn't he become a free agent?

We get compensation as he is under the age of 24. I think Chelsea had to pay about £5mil for Mikel even though his contract was up. Doubt we'll get that much though, especially if Platini and Blatter have anything to do with it!

dont believe it!!

but if true

£50,000 a week pmsl.....for what? having a good game against schalke, the only thing about sturridge is that if he is going to be such a great player, wouldnt he have broken in to the team by now? especially considering weve been without a great striker while hes been here? (boj injured, only just bought bellamy etc) ...........before that we had benjani, vassell, evans, caciedo?

He's had injurys that ruled him out during Sven's time and when he came back wanted to play in the youth cup and when he's been fit has got chances to play under mark hughes!

He is a greedy bugger - When he was a kid it was always about money

Dont want to lose him but not sure about him me- Looks good as a sub, not so good when he has started apart from schalke away

never about the money for him, he just wants 1st team football

really poor article that is, why would e go to chelski when they wouldnt get as much money as here and would be buried more than here

it was money, why do you think we got him and liverpool never, keegan paid what he wanted liverpool didnt

There's a Chelsea forum with a member, whose username is bluemooner mcfc.
I wanted to gauge the opinions of City fans on how Sturridge has progressed, I saw some games of his, in the final stages of the youth cup up unti you lost to Liverpool, and some of his Premiership games, but, I wanted to read the opinions of him as a player from City fans.

I googled Man City forum, and I recognised this url from the Man City fan that is a member of Chelsea's forum.

The guy who was flattered because Chelsea wants a player of yours., you are better than that, for instance United can want Rooney from Everton, it doesn't humble a club to want talent from lesser teams.

I like City, well I don't hate you, but, I personally want you to spend crazy money and bring in all the talent you can to challenge for the top 4, I want Villa, Everton and Spurs to continue their growth, and Arsenal to get back to the days that once were.
#When there is increased pressure from beneath, it only propells us to reach new highs.

Sturridge and Weiss are exceptional players, England do not really have a plethora of great attacking talent, and with a quota system in the pipeline, it's on us to secure the best talent English talent like Sturridge, you haven't been able to secure him down to a contract, it's up to him whether or not he wants to stay, try his hand at a bigger club, or move down to a smaller club now.

Are you suggesting we're a smaller team than Chelsea and that staying with us would be a "move down" for him or have i read that wrong?

Because we average ahigher gate than Chelsea do, even now, and with our resources theres nothing to stop us surpassing your feats in the near-ish future.

I'd see a chance to build this club, coming from the academy, as a better prospect that a "quota filler" at a club with the same, allbeit, smaller scale model of what we're wishing to become.

Forget about the semantics, I'm not going to argue with what makes a bigger club, but, I am sure you understand that Chelsea is the more attractive option between the 2 of us, for the worlds best talent when considering a club.
