People will speculate because of who she is. The old 'never complain, never explain' is not a product of the social media age, and the silence simply breeds more and more conspiracy about what is going on. In addition, there is toxicity present between monarchists and republicans, Kate supporters and Meghan supporters, and the stuff out there is utterly vile.

It looks a little bit more sinister than that, looking at what the 'experts' are saying, it's at least 2 or 3 pictures spliced together. I wouldn't say millions of people do that. Touch the photo up yes but add yourself to a picture, not many do that.

Not arsed about the conspiracies but the reasons why they've lied about something so minor makes it intriguing.
 
If she was touching it up it would be done in lightroom not photoshop. PS is for harder edits and changing skys and moving stuff etc. Lightroom is more for editing.

I first saw them on twitter a couple of years back.

It was Kate's friend apparently and they fell out and her friend moved away around the same time.

That's open to interpretation though. That could mean anything and twitter now X is the cess pool of the world.

All about context, mate. Publishing an obviously doctored photo in an attempt to quell rumours isn’t exactly the best idea ever.

Has she done what millions of other people do? I can't say I've ever had my Palace publish a press release instructing the world's press to circulate a doctored photo of me.

It's not unusual for a professional photographer to do that, particularly with group portraits involving kids. A lot of people probably don't even know they have an edited photo. That wedding photo with 10 or 20 people in it? Chances are it's got a face from another photo edited into it, because it was perfect other than granddad blinking at the wrong point, or a kid looking the wrong way.

Obviously, the difference with the royal family is that they presumably become a matter of public record. And as we know, no royal family member would ever commission a picture that made them look anything other than completely true to life.
