The Conservative Party

The more engaged in what is happening can see it, but the majority of people don't have a clue what's happening to the fabric of democracy at the moment.

They're not interested in politics. They only think about it when there is an election, and they vote whichever way they do after watching or reading whatever the main stream media feeds them, and put their cross on the ballot paper accordingly.

It's a sad state of affairs, but the majority of people don't seem to have grasped the idea the traditional tory party has been hijacked and taken over by extreme right wing nut jobs with their own agendas they will happily pursue without any conscience regarding the poverty their policies will inflict on the masses.

Not sure that the ''Traditional Tory Party'' has been hijacked. They've always behaved like this ... the difference being is that we are hearing more now.

This is the same party that is withholding £450,000,000 of Iranian money which they paid to us to purchase tanks....and £1.5 billion of Chilean gold held in the vaults of the Bank of England simply because we dont agree with the person elected to run the country.

Agree with that. It's just a less polished delivery by more outwardly unpleasant/incompetent people. The voices of moderation seem to have disappeared too - even during the Thatcher years there were the likes of Ken Clarke

The basic Tory ideal of gaining power and keeping it by any means possible will never disappear no matter who is in charge of it.
The difference I see with this generation is that for all the expensive education they don’t seem to be very well educated or intelligent except in a low cunning self-interested way.
The biggest difference though, has to be how emboldened they have become by getting away with, and indeed being rewarded with an 80 seat majority for, the biggest con-trick and egregious lie ever perpetrated on the British public.
The thinking seems to be that if they can get away with brexit then they can get away with virtually anything.

The thing is elections are a two way street, if you want to get rid of someone then you need something else to vote for.

At the moment I definitely won't vote Tory but I'd have to think very hard about voting Labour because right now I have no idea what they stand for. The only other alternative is the Lib Dems and christ knows what they stand for nowadays, I haven't heard anything from them resembling policy for years.

Rather ironically we all know who we shouldn't vote for but we have no idea who we should vote for. That's perhaps why most people are turned off to politics, it's because the options on the table are horrendous.

Voting for a grown up, non corrupt prime minister would be a start.
