The home support is terrible

I know we are British and all that (well most of us), and we're all well reserved and proper like...........!!!, but why can't we all make a noise inside a stadium full of 40000 plus people. look around other foreign leagues, fans in stadiums well before kick off, not to see some pre match entertainment, but to show support and passion for their chosen team, who stands in unison, jumping up and down, singing the clubs anthem, Christ, our Blue Moon never gets going, we should all be on our feet, scarfs above our heads blasting it out. Atmospheres are created by fans in the main. I disagree with all this corporate, plastic, older fan, Show sec and split singing section tripe diminishing the passion we should show. I think we the fans need to take a good look at ourselves and open our mouths some more in unison, thereby making some bleeding noise. The players must think we have given up, and that can't be helpful for their confidence if the people who turn up to watch then sound and look uninterested...?!

the british are not reserved ever been on a lads holiday abroad or to a festival. Pissed up singing and loud. Its usually the germans who are the reserved, yet they have the best support.

There was a lad yesterday jumping about on row 1 showing sort of passion (I admit he didn't watch much of the game and can't say I don't blame him) but he was being filmed by GMP then about 15 Showsec turned up and chucked him out for gesticulating towards away fans (Hull ffs) .

He was embarrassing. Pity he didn't sing and support the team with as much passion.

The piss take chants about our corners were funny as fuck.

I'm fucking the season ticket off after this year after 16 years. the club doesn't care about the real fans anymore. Back when it was £500 or so you could justify it but my seats will be around £800 and being ripped off just doesn't appeal to me now. If the owner pulls the plug and we go back to needing season ticket money il be back supporting the club. Love city, hate modern day football.

Goodluck ya twat

EDS game at minihad was better, stood up behind goals, had a laugh, stood where i want, good sing song... Even so several shots at goal first half..

Lets all go EDS games, pack it out to the rafters with 8,000, all sing / stand and have good day. Fuck the main game off, club will see a better atmosphere at minhad and reasons why.. Its due the 25 year circle !

Alternatively there is block 115..

I got a season and a half ban just for handling a smoke bomb. The ban was lifted at the start of this season and iv only been to the com shield game. The atmos is so shit and your hassled about standing, that I feel it isn't worth the effort, time or money. Iv turned into an armchair fan and will continue to be one until the atmosphere is sorted.

Iv tried like hell to get songs goin etc and just had blank looks in return. Id rather have ten thousand hard-core than the majority we have attending at the mo.

Thankfully the 1894 guys are tryin to improve things and I really hope something is sorted once the expansion is open.

The twat in the white/cream jogging suit? He was a fucking embarrassment. I wished they'd thrown him out far earlier.

Something is sorted... the club have committed 115 (and possibly some of 114, can anyone confirm?) to the new singing area AFAIK. So here's a chance for people to help the atmosphere, including those who have given up and stopped going (which I don't blame anyone for... not much difference between sitting in the crowd and watching on TV if its silent). :)

It's fuck all to do with he supporters.

We have too many players with no affinity to the club who don't care. Our so called best player Yaya Toure has reiterated his desire to leave on several occasions, trying to force a move to PSG. Dzeko, Kolarov, Jovetic are all clearly looking for an escape route and play with no passion or fight. Caballero, Demichillis, Fernando, Mangala, Lampard haven't been around long enough to form a bond with the supporters. We play a very slow, methodical tempo with very little tenacity in regaining possession.

Yet you want our fans to get excited?

When was this? Have you got a link to the quotes?

If you truly believe the birthday cake incident, followed up by essentially saying the club wouldn't allow him time off to mourn his brothers death were genuine then I think you need to give your head a wobble pal.

We're hardly alone in a having a load of foreign players. I don't think they are any more or less motivated than most others either.

The atmosphere isn't great for many reasons, not least of which is the frustration on the pitch. At time we play some sublime football, but at other times we're devoid of ideas and face all 11 of the opposition defending for their lives. That causes tension / frustration and you can sense it in the crowd.

Our fanbase has also changed considerable. We're attracting more middle class fans who are attending with wives / girlfriends / kids and they generally aren't up for an aggressive / hostile atmosphere. They probably want to enjoy the roar of the crows, but fail to appreciate they are part of it, and their voices required. But again, we're hardly alone in this. It's becoming an issue with most of the PL, and since we are now one of the most forward thinking clubs, we're probably ahead of the curve on this problem.

It's not terrible support though. It's quiet support. The two should not be confused.

The 10k so called fans who disappeared with 10 minutes to go with us 1-0 down and laying siege to the Hull goal are an absolute disgrace

Massively disagree with this. It should have fook all to do with the players. Its the club that we support.

It was nowhere near 10K with mins to go. The masses started leaving just after Milner's goal.
Some did leave early, that's for sure, but it wasn't 1 in 5 people.

Are they a disgrace? no, they are paying fans. These people have stumped up hard earned cash, sometimes when they can ill afford it. It's frustrating that they leave early, sometimes annoying, but they are no disgrace.
It's hard seeing us struggle like we did yesterday. Some people kick a lamppost. Some people shout out obscenities, some people just want to head home, fed up. It's hard to be critical of any of those reactions.

If you're going to criticise the team for being foreign and having little or no affinity with the club, then you have to say the same of the owners.
It's an easy criticism to make, but it's utter rubbish too.

At what point is the affinity created? from birth? from watching us on tv? from joining the club? (all three are valid).

Let's not kid ourselves, players ARE professionals and most likely join the club for professional reasons (just as they do with most other clubs). Once they are here, we the fans have a part to play in creating that affinity. We do that by cheering them on, letting them know we're behind them when they are doing well, and more importantly when things aren't going well). You can't expect a player to form much affinity with a club when the fans are criticising them. Who's ever going to fall in love with a club where they aren't liked?

The singing section in the corner is shit. They'd rather just shout abuse at the away fans all game.

its the only bit thats sings. It beats the other side of the south stand i.e. stand In silence all game arms folded.
