The Labour Government

Putting our respective political viewpoints to one side (if that’s possible), I think it’s fair to say, this new Labour government have had the worst start to their tenure of any government in living memory.
Agree or disagree?

Far right have set out to attack them from the off; unfortunately for Labour the far right have managed to load the bullets but get the likes of the BBC to fire them. Sue Gray was hated by the Tory right for toppling Boris but they managed to get Chris Mason to decapitate her. Clever stuff.

I'll just edit your post in the style of the anti City media if that's ok?

So who leaked the stories about her from inside number 10? Truly would be clever stuff for the Tories to be behind that. Planting all those moles inside number 10. The more obvious and believable answer would be they’ve fucked up the messaging a lot on the freebies, a lot of the roads led back to Alli and Gray, plus the WFA is a disastrous policy announcement, breathtakingly stupid. Two issues of their own making - the tories haven’t had to do anything. Like Labour didn’t have to do anything when the tories were going from one fuck up to another.

For Sue Gray, generally if you’ve given your enemies something to get you fired for, you probably want to look at yourself first. Politics is a ridiculous business, not based on actually doing anything worthwhile, but on not being seen to do anything wrong.

Starmer spent years castigating the Tories for sleaze. But when he was caught doing the same, he decided to pay only SOME of it back and his chief of staff gave the donor a Downing St. pass.
Child like decision making.

It is early days for this government, but it is fair to say everybody on here must be at least a little dissapointed in what has come to light in recent weeks. We all expected a bit better than all this freebies and access for freebies stuff. Harriet Harman has effectively said as much aswel. Starmer needs to get his house in order sharpish.

Johnson absolute shit show
It’s truly laughable to claim the new Labour government have had the worst start to their tenure of any government in living memory when Johnson, May, Truss, and Sunak literally just occurred in succession (and that is just the last decade or so).

One of them nearly plunged us in to a depression within 30 days of becoming PM. Another fucked things so comprehensively from the off that we will be trying to fix their mistakes for a generation (or more). Another facilitated the acceleration of liquidation of public assets to private enterprise, which will have lasting detrimental effects that cannot even be fully predicted.

It shows a lack of connection with reality, either due to extreme ignorance or intellectual dishonesty.

Could and should have Starmer et al done better thus far? Absolutely.

Have they been anywhere near as dysfunctional, corrupt, and catastrophically incompetent as Johnson, May, Truss, or Sunak? Absolute not.

They’ve had to inherit a 22 billion black hole, prisons at mass capacity, Doctors and Nurses on strike , Train strikes, record Dentist waiting list, NHS on its knees, waters and rivers polluted, record migrant arrivals and Farage whipping everyone into a frenzy to burn down migrant hotels and so much more - yet from day 1 the right wing have been attacking Labour as if the state of this nation is their fault - I actually predicted on here they would be unbearable and so it proves.

Spot on

Good call but to be fair Truss was a new PM and not a newly elected government.
I assume you mean be fair to Labour? Truss had an advantage that most of the SPADs and backroom staff were already in place and she also(somehow) had extensive knowledge of government from being in several cabinets-That was not the case for Labour. I wonder how many on here have remortgaged since Truss a significantly higher rates that they were paying before, andhence still suffering the impact of her appalling mini-budget?
