The Perfect Pushup...

Has the world gone mad, we are not American, they are fucking Press-ups....

Once you can whack out oodles of bog-standard ones, try doing them on a clenched fist or just the finger-tips, this is what boxers do, as it also toughens the hands.

To add greater resistance raise the height of the feet off the ground with a chair or similar.

Whatever you do, don't buy an unnecessary fancy gimmick.

I think I'll have a go at the 100 press-up challenge/workout.

It will help me with my football. I am a pretty tough defender but there isn't much muscle on my arms though my core strength isn't terrible. I can hold my own and often knock players over but more strength would help me against better players as I think it is mainly balance and technique that helps me send people flying. It is the more physically able players that I struggle against. My reading of the game is good enough to cope with players who aren't massively stronger and faster than me.

Do you use a wide arm stance when you do your push ups mate?If you do then may I suggest you try the standard Royal Marines Commando style push up.

I've, in the past, used wide arm stance AND shoulder width and alternated between the two in sets. The average start was around 45 presses shoulder width, 40 presses wide(as slow as I could) and count down 5 presses per set to get to 20 and 15(so 5 sets).

I would say move your body position for shoulder width press to a challenging position, but comfortable, to effect the chest differently.

I found it very effective and recommend it as an alternative exercise.

Waste of money, just get something soft to put your hands on.

Probably already mentioned but diet and nutrition makes up over 70% of your end results.

You could do 1,000,000 "perfect pressups" everyday but without the right nutrition and rest your not going to see any kind of results.
This. Whether it's for weight loss or muscle gain you need to make sure your diet is going to allow you to reach your goal.

And yes, they are PRESS-UPS.

And those things in the OP are just as good as using a brick to elevate yourself on and twist f you feel the need, which I don't se as having too much of an impact.

The hundredpressups website looks good though. I hardly use freeweights and just use my bodyweight. As already mentioned, position of the hands has an affect on what group of muscles you are working (if you have your palms on the floor with fingers facing forward and your left and right thumb spread out s they touch each other will work the centre of teh chest). You can also work upper lower and middle of teh chest by doing declined (lower chest) and inclined (upper chest) and normal press ups (middle/main chest area).

last time I heard they were called press ups-you bunch of crows.

Incidentally, W*nk Stain, I was talking about the PRODUCT, hence the title and the picture!

You would surprise me if you could do 30 in a straight go!

When you can sprint as fast as me and are as powerful as me then you can call me a wankstain you weapon.
