Dear Cityzen,

I am writing to you regarding the events of the past few days. I am sorry it has taken a little time, but the circumstances have been somewhat exceptional and it was important to me to contact you directly.

As you know, Manchester City has formally enacted the procedures to withdraw from the group developing plans for a European Super League. As always, when we make choices and decisions, we do so with the best interests of the Club in mind and we believed that being part of such an initiative could give us a voice that might be imperative to our future ability to succeed and grow.

However, in making that choice we failed to remind ourselves of the unbreakable link between the passion of our fans and the right to have the opportunity to earn success. It is a truth that is fundamental to the DNA of Manchester City and the Board deeply regrets taking a decision that lost sight of the historic values of the Club. We made a mistake and we sincerely apologise to our fans for the disappointment, frustration and anguish caused by the last 72 hours.

I want to personally assure you that the Owners, Chairman, Board and staff are completely committed to ensuring that the club continues to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing well-being of both the English and European football pyramids and their associated competitions. We will embrace the opportunity to earn back the full trust of our stakeholders and the football family in general.

I thank you for taking the time to read this and I extend my thanks to you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely

Ferran Soriano, CEO

Granted. However, our owners have done a pretty good job so far, so if in their judgement the ESL was financially worthwhile, I'd go with their assessment.

My recollection of the PL was similar, but I also recall ManUre in particular wanting home teams to keep 100% of their matchday money which caused a huge disparity between the larger & smaller clubs.

The ESL never had the chance to get round to the intricate details of their competition, so we can only speculate at this time where the 5 annually invited clubs would come from, & under what criteria they would qualify.

My point still stands... After the way the PL teams, CL teams & UEFA/G14 have treated us over the last 12 years, why should we give a fuck what happens to them as long as we're in the life raft?

We've tried being the voice of reason. We tried it the right way, but up to 12 months ago they all conspired to fine us millions, ban us from the CL, & dock us PL points. Personally I really couldn't give a toss about any of them, because if this last 12 months in particular has proved anything, it's that we have no friends anywhere.

Fuck the lot of them, & for now let's look after No1. None of them gave a shit about us regardless of how obvious it was that we were being unfairly targeted because of our new found wealth.
Indeed pal!

Dear supporter

we are so sorry for lowering the rope into the cesspit which would have allowed the Rags and the dippers pay off there debt

at the the final moment we burnt the rope as we love the bluemoon humour

All the best Khaldouny

I would love to know when we first got involved in this, 177 page contract for clubs participating.

That would have taken months to compile, if the stories are true that we got the invite the week previous it would have barely gave the club lawyers time to go through and check the detail.

I think we deserve that at the least, but probably be up to Pep again tonight to speak?

Whatever Khaldoon says, I doubt we will ever know the full extent. Perhaps he will gladly take a Mea Culpa, to fight another day.

One thing this whole saga reinforces for me is Pep is Mr City. You shouldn’t think like that about managers, who come and go, but I don’t see City without him and dread the day. New contract please and life president!

Dear fan,

Sorry, not sorry. We were put in a shit situation by a bunch of the biggest bastards in Europe. We only went along with it because we had to, but we got out as soon as we could.

Looking forward to seeing you at next season's thrilling Champions league game against the champions of Kazakhstan because they’re one of the best teams in Europe on merit, apparently.

Love and kisses,

Kal, Furry and the Pepster
